Tangentially related but I wanted to share thisbrI am 19 years old and I speak four languages I lived in threee different countries, and interacted with four different cultures for most of my first 18 years of life And I feel like I don't belong to any of thembrCurrently, I live in my mother's country I had traveled here a couple of times before moving in, and I'm fluent in the language Most locals assume I'm a local as well, without question brBut I'm not brAt the same time, I'm also not a foreigner I fit in the country, but I don't belong to it, and it doesn't belong to mebrAnd while this is not what this video is about, it still speaks to mebrI never knew how to put my feelings to word until I head the term "cultural schizophrenia"

I come back and watch this video a few times a year I first saw it back in 2021 One thing I noticed when etudying another language is that it forced me to dial back and study my own native language as well By the time I gained fluency in my second language, I actually gained a greater passion and interest in my first language too Now I love every language I speak and treat them with great respect
