Why would the US government concievably CHOOSE TO sabotage the entire payments system by failing to honour FDIC depositors insurance? The answer is there's no concievable reason Cyprus has no central bank to create its currency - it is spending constrained and so it can't provide credible depositors insurance in Euros - the federeal reserve can credibly provide INFINITE depositors insurance for accounts denominated in dollars It may choose not to but that would be an act of literal insanity
