My advice to foreigners is to seek assistance from a lawyer, rather than deal directly with "land owners" It may cost you some money but save you the stress as land purchase in Ghana involves CHECKS & PROCEDURES

Thank you - very helpful I wish he'd said more about acquiring land from the stool/chief because I've learned my late mother has land in Accra and the Chief wants her surviving children to present themselves physically to him before he will hand over the land I really haven't got a clue how the process works - do we not own the land until the Chief says we do? I thought it was enough that it was my mother's land and just simply passes to her children by succession

It seems to me that the family has no obligation in recording themselves properly Make it mandatory for a family member to enter the right papers to prove that they are part owner of the land That should be a part of the land commission and can be verified there That is not a big deal
