I love how you don't sugar coat anything - horrible things can happen in life and you need to be prepared for it I'm retiring early b/c I realized during the lockdown (and no travel escapes), how much I hated working, not only for the idiots I work for now, but for anyone! I became laser focused on what I could do to get out of there ASAP I now how a solid plan and can walk out the door about 12 years earlier than the people I work with I won't be rich, but I will be comfortable and more importantly, educated! Worked hard 30-45 Quit job at 45 to be stay-at-home father and stopped paying 25k to work (tax, cpp, ei, etc) Sold home at 47 to officially FIRE and live off dividend income Still spending less than I earn, yielding 20-25 but only living off 75 of it Focused now on health, running, working out, mobility to live longer setting up my own pension plan this way was inspired by my electrician buddy having a nice 50k pension at 60, except mine will be tax efficient ;) Comment from : @ardbegrules3973 |

It seems to be the narrative of the financial industry to say buy and hold - the markets will come back brThe world is a changing and different place than it was 10 or 20 years ago We are living in a much more global system brThe facts are the world is a different place Bud light does not care about its share holders Target does not care about its share holders brHow can we put our trust in a system that is undergoing such radical change Government philosophy has changed - Business philosophy has changed - All of society has changedbrBut put your trust in the system it will come back - Seems like faith more than certainty?
