This is what happens when people don't read the contracts before the sign brbrI don't have a problem with safe deposit boxes One because I read the rental agreement Secondly I don't keep annoying stupid like $67k cash in thembrbrI bought a very sturdy gun safe It's bolted to the foundation and weighs 900 pounds brbrI don't have guns but I keep all other valuables in it The safe cost $1800 four years ago

Those locks are easy to pick another safe deposit box holder most likely picked hers and emptied it clean! Real easy to do! I learned how to pick locks when I was about 11 years old

Having once been instructed by the bank to drill into the wrong box in a bank vault, i can say "shit happpens" not that it is acceptable thaf they dont take responsibilitybrbrAnd to anyone thinking you can just pick these locks no really cannot in practice The locks are designed to be easy to destructively bypass (drill out) but nearly ipossible to pick or bypass silently brbrbrIt takes me about 180 seconds to walk into a vault, drill and replace lock in box door With guard key Sans guard key, add 20-30 seconds

This same thing happened to my mother in law She was missing a $40,000 document and she found out one day as she went to her bank and realized her key didn't fit her lock box either When approaching the bank manager he let her know that a number of boxes "had" to be drilled out and refit with new locks Problem is, the bank never notified her so she could take her things out before they opened the box and replaced the lock with a new one!!!

Having worked and managed a branch for 11 years i can confirm this is standard Typically they wont drill a box until it is 12 months unpaid, but they are incredibly easy to open Bank vaults are not waterproof or fireproof And yes the lease agreements waive all liability

Hang on isn't there a security camera or cameras in the area and if so why didn't they pick up anyone fiddling with the Box This sounds like an inside job and maybe someone turned off the cameras to give them just enough time to steel the content You can say you are not responsible? but when you say it's as safe as the bank and you won't lose your money unless it is caught in a fire or other disasters you are liable in my book
