The government doesn’t do a thing about struggling families not to mention the federal minimum wage is still 735 an hour To be able to afford groceries and your rent you need to make about 22 an hour but most jobs will only pay 1375 if your lucky you can find a job for $15 an hour but even that just simply is not livable

Out of high school I worked 13 years as a common laborer Ten of those years I attended college part time when I had enough extra money to pay for tuition, books and fees Earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science which led to a 30-year professional career Wasted 13 of those years married twice to no good result either time before finally starting my own company, living and working as I had always wanted to through to comfortable retirement at age 62 Anyone can try to do it that way, even today, but most will fail Keeping an open mind is essential for success

I'm financially secure, with a paid off house and no debt and have been saving 20 to 25 since I was in my 20's I remember in 2018 my family had monthly net expenses of $5k and that was after saving into my 401k Today those same expenses are $64k a month, with a gross income of about $92k I have a 6 month emergency fund and I use a paycheck ahead fund to prevent overdraft charges Inflation has set us all a bit closer to living paycheck to paycheck I am 55 years old and planning to retire at age 60, with $920k in my 401k; but if there is another round of high inflation or a financial correction, I will likely have to delay retirement until 63 or later
