I would love to see a comparison between a very cheap winter tire and a very expensive all-season tire Comment from : @robmausser |
cheap winter vs expensive all weather ? Comment from : @shawncordeiro |
I had 2 sets of Nokian WR D4 They roll nice and smooth, pretty good performance in winter condition and dry, but after two years the rolling surface became oval and the car was bouncing at low speed and vibrating at higher speed With the first set I thought I had bad luck, but after the second set of tyres did the same thing, I gave up and I decided to Never Buy Nokian again Too bad, cause I was pretty pleased with the other aspects Comment from : @alexostafi2555 |
I think the budget tyre should have been a directional variety, thats why it did horribly in the snow and wet conditions, not enough/proper water and snow evacuation There are huge differences between directional and asymetrical tread patterns grip and performance even within the same brand of tyre Comment from : @brianoh |
Morale: get a Golf and be careful on the road with a budget tyre from a known company :) Comment from : @mehappy93 |
The budget dont last long so in the long run its cheaper to buy premium Comment from : @blixtkrig |

Big disappointment Info presentation felt more focused on getting making your money than providing clear concise information Comment from : @nikodc2008 |
i know i will get a lot of snarky rebuttals but i dare to ask , how many of the drivers who buy budget tyres do lap times? more pertinently , the 'premium' tyres that cost more than twice - are they twice good? it didnt seem that way in your videobrbrand , the note you ended up with shows what it really is not all 'premium' tyre manufacturers dont even allow their products be compared against budget offerings because they bknow/b that the difference is really not that much ;) Comment from : @ullassharma86 |
so basically zero difference unless ur racing on compacted snow Comment from : @Realz-bb3uf |
And one thing everybody forgets mentioning:brEven the cheapest NEW tyre will be much better than a worn off, USED expensive one Comment from : @FlyingCsongor |
since when is nokian premium xD? Comment from : @janbojarski004425 |

now try the test again after 10000km Comment from : @DutchDukeMan |
ok so whats the problem here? brfirst, it is clearly a Nokian commercial for their tyrebrsecond, whats the name of this "budget" tyre???brthird, what does this proof if you are drywing the car? te objective results would be if both of the tyres were tested in a test facility and not by a driver that is making a commercial for Nokianbrbrthis is all crap Comment from : @amc475 |
how about comparing used tires after 1 or 2 years for example comparing used premium tires with new cheap ones Comment from : @naykoom |
Drive to the conditions, and dont push your tires to the limitbrIf you worry about braking distance, drive a bit slower and follow the 4-second rule Comment from : @peterpan408 |
Your recent videos show testing budget tyres, which is something I like to see I wonder if it would be possible for you to test the somewhat popular Petlas Velox Sport tyre? On your site, people give it good reviews It is a budget tyre made by a turkish brand I think it would be interesting to hear what you have to say about those tyres Comment from : @JoseSilva-ep2ww |
I do not recommend budget tires on 245 or bigger tires Comment from : @mihaijuravle6145 |
when you mentioned slicks, when i had bridgestone potenzas on my car and when they were worn out they handled even better on dry tarmac (but wet was disaster ) Comment from : @dragod7233 |
Please add Nexen wingaurd sport 2 & spike 3 to your winter tests Suppose to be good & cheap lets test that ! Comment from : @rpmautoreviews9249 |
I’d test the budget tires on fresh snow pack and test the premium right after that Comment from : @darealgreglopez |
My thinking has always been that how you drive in the snow is more important than your tires I've driven many winters on all seasons with no issues That said, even the cheapest winter tires will give you a big advantage if you just want them to help out in sticky situations like deeper snow and grabbing better from a dead stop uphill or something You really shouldn't be pushing the limits of your corning grip and braking distances in the snow on public roads Comment from : @pokedude104 |
I drive on best winter tires ever Continental winter tires is the best all over Its very pricy but u get grip uphill better than any other tires Nokia truly sucks when it comes to snow and uphill, trust me Comment from : @janhansen554 |
Different is approximately 3🤷🏻♂️ Comment from : @lelasante |

Could you test to compare Michelin CrossClimate2 vs Kleber Quadrexer 3?brAlso Premium vs Budget)) Comment from : @vsd1986 |
I'd take the budget tyres and drive slowly, you should never ever be driving quickly or closely to other motorists in bad cold conditionsbrNegate the 5-10 better performance of the Premium tyre by driving 5-10 slower Comment from : @themrmarkprior |
Doesn't seem like a fair test Comment from : @beastumfan |
Not to mention the aramid sidewall 😊 Comment from : @briannorwick |
This comparison is not right You can compare premium tires from different brand and i can assure you will see similar differences Some premium are better the others Comment from : @teresatu100 |
Some of these tests are only 1 difference The worst was 11 on the big Volvo I'm guessing the Nokian are probably 50-60 more money Nope Sorry Even the budget winter tires are WAY better than an all season Comment from : @mbeacom21 |
thats a commercial for Nokian so all the info is wrong and fake Comment from : @liliabulbocean |
Dont drive as fast? Surely winter tyres of any cost are better? Comment from : @mdmurray17 |
What would be useful to see is how a vehicle performs on budget winter tyres, compare to different types of summer tyres (premium, mid range and budget) brThis would give a good example of every day performances in the cold, wet, slippery and occasionally icy conditions found in winters in the UK br I can't help feeling that even a budget winter would be the superior tyre in those conditions, and perhaps silence some of those doubters who insist they don't need winter tyres Comment from : @andrew7440 |
Who's watching from UK 12/12/2022 Comment from : @RENKOEAMT4 |
Question? Why are you driving winter tires to extreme? People just want to drive slow and get to work I think the cheaper winter tires will get it done You're dishonest as your veiny steroid arms Consider leg days, maybe back, chest and shoulders You are very unbalanced and unstable Cheap winter tires, not so much Comment from : @charlessmith3758 |
These are 2WD not alltrack or 4motion correct? Comment from : @djupright6163 |
Budget one is definitely geared for city dwellers whose main fear is sliding through intersections, with no concerns about speed The premium one is obviously the only choice for any highway driving - say, to the ski resort (or Canadian inter-city road trips the length of several European countries) I feel like some mid-range all weathers would do just as well as the budget winters, and they'd save you the cost of summer tires Comment from : @freshturns_snowboarding |
Can anyone comment on the ROYAL BLACK ROYAL WINTER HP tire? Comment from : @jrus1 |
The cheap winter tires look like they closer to all seasons in tread pattern to my untrained eye Comment from : @antanis |
I thought Nokian was the budget tire😳 Comment from : @sunspiral79 |
Gotta have the same cars and same tire sizes for an accurate test Can't have different tire widths, etc Not a good test Comment from : @AdamSmith-xm2fn |
The of this video, that no point to buy premium tiresbuy chipest and ride slowly yuo will be finebrPS: dont buy golf because it will falling apart all time and you dont need winter tyres, you will used only in summer, but in winter you put it to the shop to complitly rebuild engine and stupid DSG gearbox Comment from : @павелананкин |
Sponsored by Nokian Comment from : @z4v3k |
I have a 16L 100bhp Audi Of course I am not going to buy the more expensive summer or winter tires If you fill it up with fuel and put new expensive tires on it, you double the car's valueI am good with the budget tire Comment from : @AMdrew |
Drove some Ceat Arctic 25 years ago, wow they were really bad in the dry but they saved my one time on ice because they were so soft! Comment from : @carstenweiland7896 |
I’ve always used brand winter tires, but I got myself some mid-grade (not the cheapest ones) winter tires this year I figured if I’m only keeping the car for 3-4 years, a mid-grade should do the job The difference in price is definitely interesting! I’m excited to test them this winter knowing I’ll drive a bit more slowly and carefully in case these tires suck 😅 Comment from : @fvnt0miix953 |
The driving test could be faked according to interestsbrOf course the acceleration and braking ones can be faked as well, but the driving one can be faked using only the acceleration pedal, it's so simple to let the car's rear begin a small drift by slightly releasing the throttle and over correcting while in a curve (and still look like you are powering through the curve), that no test performed by humans would ever be relevant Comment from : @mihaisamaila7646 |
stupid test you need to put the tires on the exact same car to compare the volvo is much heavier car so it will perform better make the two cars the same Comment from : @vmrhanky |
What names are the budget Tyres sold under? Comment from : @lookoutleo |
No tire can save you from driving like a moron Comment from : @5000RR |
So how much did Nokian pay you for this review? Haha, bios andy Comment from : @Dreamlink91 |
When the premium will be 1 year old, it will have the same characteristics what the budget tyres have from the factorybrbrA two-year-old premium is probably worse than a new budget winter tyrebrbrThe age and mileage of the tyres are more important than the price Comment from : @barnaczukor4235 |
What the hell is a "tyre" ?!?? Comment from : @stevenbrown5210 |
Imagine saving 500 for winter tires but losing a 50k vehicle 🚗 big brain 🧠 Comment from : @ayoitsyayo |
No question a premium winter tyre is better than a budget So now maybe the question becomes budget winter tyre vs premium all season vs all weather tyre on snow & ice Comment from : @facetiousmonkey5322 |
Down voted because this sounds like two low end brands Comment from : @BCCMightySanta |
Nice to see a video on which make of vehicle is better suited for snow and ice driving Comment from : @1thehandyvan |
How many of you knew that Nokia got caught of distorting test results? Nokia admitted that they have given different kind (read:better) of tyres to tyre tests for years, than what are the normal production tyres Nokia send significantly improved tyres to winter tests and they did that on purpose, to manipulate test results, to win the testbrProbably did it in this test too Comment from : @morbus74 |
That's dumb you should have chosen a bigger tire with similar tread The one you chose is too asymmetrical so you know it won't be good in the snow Comment from : @PaceyPimp |
Big ass NOKIAN banners all over the placenaaahvideo will be tottaly unbiased and comparison will be done in identical conditions Comment from : @PaulieTheDude |
your videos are really interesting but i'm struggling a bit to validate the information for my personal driving style, because you said that you prefer tires to tend more towards under- than oversteer, while i certainly enjoy utilizing the rotation of the car more than reduced turning ability if your guide is meant in an objective way you should make it clear why you'd prefer an understeery tire even if your driving style was more focussed on keeping a constant level of oversteer Comment from : @Beatsbasteln |
Your russian nokian are also not premium And they beak after the season Comment from : @Karolo2489 |
What really sucks is that after a year the cheap snow tire will be just as bad as summer tires Comment from : @o0Avalon0o |
In snow cheap winter tires are better than summer tires 👍🏻 Comment from : @martijnhoogesteger4466 |
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23)brLet the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon (Isaiah 55:7)brWhen Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance (Mark 2:17) Comment from : @thomasfields7902 |
I had chinese ling-Long summer tyre on my Alfa It performed excellent in rain, snow and summer Comment from : @ardmrad9278 |
There should also have been a premium and budget all-season tire on this test I would like to see how a premium all-season compares to a budget winter in winter conditions Comment from : @billyhw99 |
I wish they would also do flattened snow vs fresh snow tests too Comment from : @billyhw99 |

Those are Both Shitty Looking Tread patterns for Snow Driving 25 million KM Driven and You want an all open tread Nothing closed in because as the tire wears It will lift the car An open Tread doesn't do that open it's life span Comment from : @otahu26 |
The test is cheapest winters vs good all seasons Winters will win but by how much? Comment from : @No_Comment87 |
Nokian is not known to be a good value tire Comment from : @guitartec |
