I really love RPGs; when we were kids, my sister and I used to play MMORPGs but our mother really didnt like them and would only allow us to play like 20mins a day which obviously is waaay to little to really tackle an MMORPG, especially the older ones So we were basically forced to create our own tabletop RPGs without even knowing that such things exist at all We used to play our own RPGs all the time and I still have two complete rulebooks written by us haha Over the last years the RPGs mostly shiftet over to adventure games (all time fav: Assassins Creed) but now I decided to get a bit into the original CRPG classics, starting out with Baldurs Gate EE To grasp the game mechanics I was advised to look up how D&D works at its core and I am having a blast here, esp with your videos If only I had friends who were as fantasy and RPG obsessed as I am, unfortunately I am the only kinda nerdy person of my friends But I am still very much enjoying your videos and this super cool TTRPG seriously considering buying a starter set and just play with myself or at least one other person Maybe online Very cool anyways You just earned yourself a new sub!

"Ask questions if you like" - My advice, always like! Always ask questions about the scene, even if you have to think about a question for a moment or two, the DM will rarely reveal all you need to know unprompted, either because he forgot, or there are secrets you need to seek out actively

We’ve been doing a few mock battles to get ready for our actual campaign I worked it out with the DM that I could just be a skeleton wizard In one of our battles, me and one of my friends fought 2 baboons I died due to my head being smashed in by a rock, but im not technically dead according to my backstory, just a pile of bones on the ground So, I convince my friend to throw my skull as hard as he can at one of the baboons, he roles a one So in turn he throws me a singular foot and the baboons are stnnued for two turns because they are absolutely laughing their asses off at the pathetic throw

I tried watching a "beginner's guide" with a guy named Sherlock Hulmes and while he annoyingly spends the first 5 minutes of his 30min essay on how not to dress for D&D you actually explain the game core and dynamics in a couple sentences and without silly little "vlogger" gimmicks and editing to overextend your video for that extra profit Thank you, glad to see someone is doing it right

This is definitely one of the better resources out there when it comes to "Learning the Basics" The initial description of the role of a DM & PC was great, but tbh I think I would still be confused about a few topics he tries to go over He mentions a couple things as a side note, but rushes past them because they're not the main topic Might of helped to blur the parts of the Character sheet that weren't necessary to the explanation Also, the section about "Types of Rolls on the d20" rather than only listing them out I probably would of also given an additional sentence for each and maybe an example of each scenario
