I have the same accent as the people in my society but the accent and the way English is spoken is kind of rigid compared to how English is spoken in say an American accent For that reason I learnt how to speak English in an American accent and I noticed a huge change in fluency and fluidity I found it a lot easier to express myself but there lies the problem of the American accent not particularly fitting in so I'm kind of scared of how others who don't have it will take it I still have my native English accent but it bothers me knowing that I could have expressed myself a lot better if I had put on an accent but I didn't just to fit in

I agree with you on this, but will add two extra reasons for accent training 1 People often misunderstand what you are saying, which results in a loss of speaking confidence 2 You are aiming for an elite job or profession
