At around 24:00 you talk about the USB-UART board being only useful for firmware upgrades but JYE makes a piece of software "JYELab" which allows you to use the DSO068 as a USB scope on a PC You can also use that same functionality with your own software to capture data from the scope You can also export a screen capture and other info from the scope via USB

And I'm guessing it doesn't sample fast enough to get multiple samples per division If it's one sample per division that would mean at least 10us to get 2 samples, 15us for 3 samples and so on brbrIf we want 4 samples, for example, that'd be a 20us time which would give us 4 samples for a 50kHz signal, which MAY be enoughbrbrAm I getting this right?

Looking at the assembly instruction sheet, during calibration, they ask you to tweak your waveform to look like the middle image The top and bottom images are examples of 'not enough' and 'too much' The middle image with a correctly displayed square wave is the objective

You missed that you can use the scope as a data logger through the USB port The software is on the web site (It also has another 7 analog inputs available over USB from an unpopulated socket on the board) The two channel version looks interesting too for some applications like vibration monitoring

i still have vacuum scopes, 10 and 20mhz, way better and give true voltage readings, after an hours warm up time

Question, Is this suitable to use if all you really work on are amps and preamps? I built several very cool electronic kits growing up and I'm thinking about getting back into the hobby now that I'm retired However, the friend who is encouraging me to get back into the hobby is a musician who focuses mainly on restoring old amps and preamps He's been wanting an oscilloscope and learning how to use one, but he's already very cramped for space With these limitations, will something like this be very useful? I just wanted to check before getting his hopes up about this particular model Both videos on this build are great by the way

Nice toy and versatile as well, apparently I would like a larger screen If you got all those fancy features and info on the display, which is nice, visibility (and resolution) is an issue I guess that would make it a little more expensive, but it would be worth it

You might verify that 33K 1 that you had to substitute is good It's hard for me to verify the colors in Part 1 That resistor sets the gain of the vertical amplifier, so it's critical for accuracy

I think you mis-adjusted C5 I don't read the instructions the same way you do The top picture is labeled "Not enough", the middle is "Good" and the bottom is "Too much" The instruction says "Change C5 to obtain waveform as the middle of photos left" which to me means the nice square picture, not the one with a bit of overshoot
