I work on generators and need to see the wave of the hertz My kilowatt gives me a number but you can see how dirty the power is with one of these I may get it with the case (offered separately) for just that pirpose and figure out how to use it lol Never used an oscilloscope beforebrWould i just put leads into the power recepticles on the generator to read the hertz of the power comjng out?brOr a better question would be how would you hook one up to a plug in your house to get readings on the hertz and see the waveform?brThabks great video Comment from : @2010stoof |

i found myself an old HAMEG HM 307 (1st revision so no curve tracer :/ ) for only 25 bucks, it has worked wonderfully so far and is fully functionnal, got a some rust on the transformer and the metal chassis but it doesn't seem to carebrbrThese old analog scopes are great if you can get one for cheap, not too old though, tube-based ones are kind of a pain to fix if they're broken Comment from : @Kanken-jl7oe |

eh, not impressed My Rigol paid for itself by my use in consulting I like my 32 bit USB logic analyzer, but the key to that was it offers more bits than standalone units and displays on a standard PC I think a USB scope might we worthwhile because of using the PC display There was even a USB single probe PC scope that was basically the size of a probebrBy the way, there are several of these stand alone units with cases now Comment from : @scottfranco1962 |

I bought the updated, Kuman brand of this oscilloscope kit from amazon $40 for kit plus shell This was the version with SMD components pre-mounted It comes with a nice manual and includes several diagnostic/troubleshooting guides in case you get lost along the way It was a nice project for me and the updated kit has a good layout and is pretty easy to use As a hobbyist I'm happy with it; I don't need the $300 investment at this stage Comment from : @ibanix2 |
