I am sooo dumb when it comes to anything finance market and investing etc etc, and whenever i try to read on it or understand it, i give up immediately and feel like my brain is literally mush But this video made it soooo easy to understand the differences Thank you so much Excellent vid

I fund a Government money market account through an indexed annuity to keep the principle safe but it hasn't preformed much in 4 years In 2020 it was about 05 ( pathetic) 2021 50 (pathetic) 2022 15( still low) 2023-2024 49 (not bad but still behind inflation) With the Fed slicing down rates again, I wouldn't be surprised it'll go back to earning less than 1 in 2025 My standard savings rate at my bank is 25( for now) and completely accessible Unless you are playing with large sums of money ( over 100k minimum ) small fluctuations in rates are futile and worrying about a few basis points is a waste of brain space CDs , High Yields, MMs, all follow the same trajection with Effective Federal Funds rates They go up and they go down You need to pay attention to them and make decisions based on what works for you Their are better ways to invest your money but these do pose higher risk

This video is inaccurate and misleading There is no limit of 6 transactions per month on money market funds Money Market Funds at banks, especially small banks are not the same thing as the options available at a brokerage like Fidelity, Schwab, E*TRADE, and Vanguard Most banks are paying 06 to 375 but you can get 525 with VUSXX and near 5 on most other MMFs at brokerages

My dad just passed away and I took over the finances for my mom Dad had over $200,000 in a MM account earning an embarrassingly low 0025 interest! I couldn't believe my eyes! He got $52000 in interest for the entire previous year Needless to say I scooped up that cash and bought various length CD's earning around 5 My mom will now earn more in three weeks that that same case earned last year
