I grew up in North Dakota and we used to watch the missile convoys travel through town all the time It was a hell of a sight It was before they hit the interstates, so there was always a 2-4 USAF Security Forces Humvees, a pair of unmarked SUVs, both Black Hawks from the local National Guard, and some local sheriff’s deputies

I remember being a young Marine in the late 80’s and one of these semis came onto our base in a restricted area We placed a team of heavily armed Marines around it and were told to use deadly force if anyone came around it We were told that if we came under attack and couldn’t stop them the Air Force Jets were on standby to bomb the area with us included to prevent anyone from taking it Failure was not an option! 🇺🇸

Honestly probably one of the most intense assignments you can get Literally guarding a weapon that could kill millions, so any mistake or small mercy you render could wind up killing millions Pretty intense
