My son is in grade 4 he is 9 years old ,he cannot read and write any more, it all started while still in grade 2 , now it's getting worse

Yes Age 8 He will incorrectly read simple words, often getting" of" and" for" confused He will also leave out or add plural pronunciations These issues are very simple mistakes but he's making them repeatedly after being prompted the incorrections and review of the short words on their own outside of a sentence, he will still struggle Help

I am 63yrs old and I am dyslexic When I was growing up there was no special ed and no one really understood how to help me My mother had a friend who was a reading specialist who told my parents what was wrong I was bullied a lot in school not only by other children but also by teacher who could not understand why I wasn't learning Some teachers would work with me and some made me feel stupid and would embarrass me in front in class I work well with patterns I have very poor short term memory but really good long term Taking notes in class was really hard I have to see it or hear it but I can't do both at the same time So I would sit next to a friend and copy their notes (it helps that I am lefty and most are righty) My spelling still sucks My mother read most of my high school work to meonce I can hear it I can pretty much spit it back I am now a special education teacher who specializes in reading Since becoming a teacher my skills have improved because what I do with children I also do with myself I believe teaching age appropriate materialmy problem is that the older a child gets the less material there is to work with It bothers me to give a 14yr old person The Cat in the Hat

Yes My daughter is 7 years old and in first grade We feel that there's a strong chance that she may have dyslexia She should be in second grade She's really struggling with reading, writing, spelling, blending, and understanding context She has recently been diagnosed as having ADHD and ODD

Yes 2nd grade She has memory problems We study the sounds and when I ask her to say the sounds her self she doesn’t remember The school is already asking to place her in a different school She does get help at school and also has a tutor, I also help her at home It really is very frustrating
