Thank you for being rational and science-based I never bought this whole model Our amazing brains use a variety of strategies and styles to learn--they use whatever works The very idea that human primates, with their extensive visual cortex, can NOT be "visual learners" is absurd We are ALL visual learners VARK is in the same bin as "left brain/right brain" It's very appealing because it is simplistic and predictive, so people cling to it, but there is no good evidence for it We simply need to present information to students in a variety of engaging ways and it works fine Students may PREFER to get information in various formats--I certainly do--but that doesn't mean it's stamped on their brains and they will NOT learn if they don't get the information in a particular way Comment from : @TeacherDan |

I couldn't disagree more with you I'm a paramedic instructor (associate degree program) and have been teaching educational methodology to new paramedic instructors "old learning style" for close to 20 years I can show you just as much research supporting the audio/visual, cognitive, affective, and psycho motor domains that as you can showing research that doesn't support the old styles I can also say we have a high attrition rate at the college for this particular AAS program Comment from : @fcbarlow1995 |
