ETFs in brokerage accounts In Roth accounts, go with low-cost index funds Mutual funds are fine, but I’d only place them into Roth accounts or use ones with super low fees Comment from : @kaig453 |

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got to talking about investment and money I started investing with $150k and in the first 2 months, my portfolio was reading $274,800 Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and get more interesting For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family Comment from : @GeorgestraitStriat |

Dave Ramsey is an intelligent guy, and I enjoy his channel/advice, but we all have an axe to grind none of us are exempt His advice about ETFs was interesting, not because of what he said; on the contrary It's what he didn't say, and he's smart enough to know better So one has to ask themselves, "Why??" Is he speaking to his audience? "keep it simple stupid," Or trying not to piss off the financial consulting industry ( like he did with the insurance industry on his position against whole; life products)The importance of an expense ratio is profound, especially given time! ETFs are more tax efficient, carry no front-end or back-in loads, and have lower expense ratios I view ETF as superior to your typical mutual fund Why, Dave, didn't you highlight those facts? I'm not sure Comment from : @1879gym |
Moving from single stocks to ETFs, tired of the circus What are best strategies to divesify my $550K investment portfolio? Comment from : @Pickerell |
If his investments are outperforming the s&p 500 its high risk Comment from : @weirdphax5406 |
If its not rocket science to find the mutual funds why not just say specifically what they are? Comment from : @MrJonjoe1977 |
You pay those fees whether you beat the S&P or not To me active funds aren’t worth that risk Index 100 and you’ll get a fair return with 001 fees Comment from : @Anthony-zw1qb |
Literally the worst investing advice on the internet from a such a prominent and famous financial figure Comment from : @Markjacobs4477 |
ETFs are actually all around better from a tax prospective, mutual funds force income on you with capitol funds You don’t need to trade ETFs like stocks, you buy and hold Comment from : @kckuc310 |
Stocks looked to rebound Friday to close out a rough first few days in August, as the jobs report's release takes center stage and an earnings-heavy calendar continues I’ve heard testimonies of people accruing over $250k this red period What measures can I take to ensure this? Comment from : @AlbertGReene-p8w |
It's not so much about timing the market, its about getting in at the right area Comment from : @kingberry100 |
What if you sell your house , invest it in the sp500 and live under the overpass for 15 years ? Comment from : @patrickjames1159 |
Dave is as a shameless shill for Mutual Funds He can NEVER justify the ludicrous fees Mutual Fund Managers charge I like Dave for most things, but he's lying - or legitimately just stupid/unaware of the reality of fees - when blathers on about 12 returns on Mutual Funds Comment from : @Scott-ll2rl |
I've done some research on this, good ETFs that generally match Dave's growth, aggressive growth, growth and income, and international have lower costs and, as many people in the comments pointed out, different tax implications which generally favor young lower income people I personally was not able to find passively managed index mutual funds that corresponded to Dave's categories AND that in a portfolio beat the S&P 500 in total return Was able to find actively managed funds that did, but the fees and expense ratio at that point can really dig into your return Comment from : @josephgard8015 |
I invest in an ETF's if you play the long game you make money through divdends paid to you and if you want to sell sell when they are at a high I'm glad that Dave acknowledges that ETFs are not bad Comment from : @yusufalajnabi |
Good video Sir Comment from : @jballs1118 |
BPTRX, ROGSX, PRWAX,OBMCX, WAINX just to name a few I hope this helps some of you Comment from : @TheClandestineArmory |

It's seems like a generational thing very half way down the middle, but we like the etf's Comment from : @Andformerthingshavepassedaway |

Dave, knows he's wrong but won't own his mistake Comment from : @kingrichards101 |
ETFs are better in taxable accounts as they are more tax efficient Comment from : @JoeCoz17 |
Name me two mutual funds that consistently outperform the S&P Comment from : @couldbe8348 |
Please DON’T listen to Dave on this- also his other advice for getting out of debt, etc is COMMON SENSE brbrJust remember this, he didn’t get rich from following his advice he got rich from Selling his advice Comment from : @ElPajaroMosca |

What are the four mutual funds? Comment from : @tastysnack1 |
All over the place You're probably being paid by the Mutual Funds people to say this Comment from : @zonkywonky-w8j |
What a freaking boomer Don't you remember the great mutual fund meltdown? Dave is doing the equivalent to eating tide pods I look down on his generation for this kind of stuff So irresponsible Comment from : @seanyingling1127 |
I was going to say the biggest problem with mutual funds- probably for most people is the minimum investment is thousands of dollars Once I max out my retirement I'm planning to start investing in a brokerage but don't really want to wait to save afew thousand dollars above my emergency fund to dive in-- so I'd be leaning towards ETFs at least in the beginning and will go from there--- also it seems like ETFs have lower tax implications which would make more sense in a taxable non-retirement brokerage account to me Comment from : @mjs4766 |
Not a good answer Dave Comment from : @sabretom7594 |
ETFs offer so many perks Liquidity, low fees, and frankly diversity The shear amount of products that exist in that space is truly shocking On top of that if you have experience you can hedge your positions with options What is there to lose with ETFs Comment from : @indianavice7075 |
ETF's are 100 times better than Mutual Funds Dave is trying to sell Mutual Funds and i'm not buying Comment from : @moneyindabank |
Hands crossed while talking Interesting body language Comment from : @StockSpotlightPodcast |
Mutual funds have higher fees I Order to manage the fund and in addition the fund managers often rebalance the mutual funds (selling off poor performing stocks inside the funds) and you pay Taxes on the sale when they do that QQQ is probably the best ETF ever created by the way Comment from : @FerallHog |
Dam alot of you disagree Comment from : @Nmms625 |
I agree with many of his videos, but this one right here is a well example that he isn't always right Comment from : @ronijr4918 |
Man he must get kickbacks from the mutual fund managers I’ll keep my money, buy and hold ETFs, thanks Comment from : @whimsicalhamster88 |
I do very well with most of my stock funds being index funds Love Dave but don’t like high fees and front end loads I don’t need a financial adviser Or as I call them ,The middle man Comment from : @Fortnitefan111YT |

Extreme spending on Realty INCOME Comment from : @srtoso3700 |
His investment advisers pay him for referrals He is pushing product, not guiding “With the heart of a teacher “ For him a few hundred million $ is not enough Comment from : @ultramegasuper11 |
Didn't really explain the advantage if you hold the etfs and pick ones that aren't specifically the s&p And isn't an etf in s&p just an etf in large cap businesses, which ramsey does recommend? I'm confused lol Comment from : @godsvendetta117 |
For investment don't listen to dave for getting out of debt yes Comment from : @cosmesalido1338 |
What a smart guy Comment from : @iamcedricpowell8051 |
So anyone that does not agree with Mr Ramsey is stupid? Comment from : @PacoJr-wr5ju |
An ETF can be diversified differently than an index There’s large cap, dividend, international, and actively managed ETF’s I think Dave should do more research My ETF portfolio beats the S&P consistently by 4-6 each year and I have lower fees to deal with Comment from : @Genologic |
Psj, soxx, iwf, vcr, qqq, uxi, vgt none of your mutual funds will outperform these Comment from : @Abracadavre1 |
Listen to Dave when it comes to paying off most Debt brbrDon't listen to Dave when it comes to investing You should be investing 25 of Gross income and ETF's are totally fine to own Comment from : @LorenzKamo |
His whole view on everything it seems like (been studying from him for the past 2 years, got out of debt because of his ideas) is to not even give yourself the time of day to have an urge to do something foolish with your money Maybe mutual funds are better than ETF's, hes just trying to not give the impulsive personality a chance to trade and potentially wreck themselves My personal experience so far says ETF's make sense for me price wise I treat them as long term investments Follow his advice, maybe mutual funds can be in reach And how can he make money off of something that he doesnt have a hand in? Can anyone answer that? He only spreads advice, take it or leave it, thats it Comment from : @undefined7463 |
This is horrible advice He assumes that because ETF's are easy to buy, that people are going to use them to time the market, and therefore they are bad Mutual funds tend to not outperform ETF index funds Dave is full of it Comment from : @briancohen4269 |
Thanks for the video Suitability sounds like the difference here Some folks that are passive investors prefer managed money and other folks that enjoy watching the market like ETFs I think Dave’s audience are the former not the latter Comment from : @karlberens2291 |
I invest in aggressive growth and international and aggressive growth fund It’s called the S&P 500 Or VTSAX total stock market covers all without an endorsed local fee provider Comment from : @maschngon |
Dave makes his money of the uninformed I used to follow his advice until i informed myself Comment from : @maschngon |
Which are the 4 funds? Comment from : @BFArch0n |
Holding his arms close to his chest Comment from : @henryhomes |
The only Dave Ramsey video I’ve ever given the 👎 Comment from : @jackstraw5527 |
So I guess we are not allowed to buy and hold etfs, it’s also not hard to find etfs that outperform the market every year, like arkk, tan, clou, botz, spyg, voog, vug Comment from : @abthemlguy |
If you ain't rich, buy ETFs and hold them until you retire Simple Comment from : @circusoftheseed |
Good pm, can I ask, what if I'm not timing the market and just buying and holding etf is that good? Comment from : @gemwildriftmobilelegends9145 |
@daveramsey what do you think about arkk etf?? Comment from : @sw-ebuilds9249 |
In 2007, Warren Buffett bet a million $ that an S&P 500 index fund would outperform a collection of hedge funds over 10 years and won the bet in 2017 Mind you, this was at the start of the 2008 crash when the S&P 500 dropped by more than 40 brbrSo Dave, what are these 4 amazing mutual funds that continuously outperform the S&P 500 so much that they even justify higher (compounded) expense fees?? brbrI only ask b/c you failed to name them and seeing as how you live to help others take control of their finances one would think you would share the focal point of this entire message! Why you'd surely be singing the names of these wondrous funds from the mountaintops so that we can all see our investments prosper even faster than Mr Buffett's because of your brilliant teachings Comment from : @khsimagesdotcom856 |
I respectfully disagree The evidence-based best way to invest is in low cost, passively managed index funds or ETFs Active managers cannot consistently beat the market Comment from : @mohammadabbasi2519 |
just remember that when dave talks about outperforming the market he is speaking on an absolute return basis Almost any fund can take on additional risk (standard deviation of returns) and 'beat' the market on long time horizon True Alpha (risk adjusted returns) net of fees is much more difficult to obtain Ask your advisors to give you the Sharpe ratios {(portfolio return - treasury rate)/portfolio standard deviation} of your mutual funds as well as the overall S&P500 if their sharpe ratios are higher than yes they are outperforming the market simply higher returns does not mean they are 'beating' the market on a risk adjusted basis No portfolio manager in the entire world can ever manage returns they can only manage risk because most funds can't actually beat the market on a risk adjusted basis net of fees over the long term I reccomend ETF's and weight your portfolio higher in high beta ETFs targeting Beta <1 this will not necessarily get you risk adjusted returns of greater than the market either but it is a passive way of taking on more risk than the overall S&P500 without the mutual fund fees Comment from : @jordanumphress9555 |
"I own many, many mutual funds that out-perform the S&P 500; and, they're not that hard to find"brbrThank you, Great Leader Please, list the funds you own, as well as the sure-fire strategy by which to find suchbrbrThanks so much Comment from : @Commando303X |
