I just wanna say something If someone breaks into your house with the equipment to break into your gun safe, you have a number of issues Ultimately, if someone is carrying equipment to break into a safe in your house, they are also ready to kill Which means if they got to your safe you are either dead, or going to be dead

A big warrantee "gotcha" - lock warrantees are generally on the lock only, and do not cover the lockout service/safe repair or replacement/repair to the safe after breeching it due to the failed lock

I’m a security installer Everyone wants a security system installed When I show up to do a quote before I ever get inside the house I’ve already pointed out to homeowner you need a light here and a thorny shrub here etc I try to get customers to understand that a security system is good but let’s make a potential thief want to pass your house up that way we’ve layered your security Most times a sign saying this premise monitored by a major security dispatcher is enough to get them to pass on your property

If you really care about the contents of your safe, you need a TL30x6 rating, and you need other layers of security around the safe such as an alarm system that notifies the police A "storage box" safe by itself is pretty worthless

Some of that is fine However, it doesn’t take much space to hold $50K in precious metals Exterior security is wonderful Interiors can have cameras In fact, I have a monitored SimpliSafe system which includes a camera monitoring my safe Walk up to it and the alarm goes off and those monitoring tell you the police are on the way So my gun safe may be good enough Maybe

Great tips one I plan on doing I back into the garage to load my range items I would trust my neighbors but not their friends or the people they might talk too Especially now that the kids are now older teenagers And hangout outside the house most every day The only firearm not in the safe is always within 2 feet of my right hand

EMP goes off THAT SAFE WON'T OPEN ! The basic safe is just for smash and grab - $ 20,000 to plus over $30,000 for safe that would weight 3000 to 4000lbs and would be hard to break into - but it's all about money !

I've seen safes that are operated by electronic dials and an old fashion manual dial They were on the high end of safes What if an EMP occurs? I believe that should be standard for all safes

I researched safes for a long time before I bought a safe I leaned that real safes aren't hardly made anymore They are all basically lockboxes with some slim crap Chinese sheetrock in the walls Real safes used concrete on the Constuction and they are hardly made anymore brAMSEC (American security) makes great safes in their mid tier and above line (BFX and above) They use a proprietary wall fill called DryLight fill in place of concrete that is in the old school real safes There is a company in Houston TX that also makes real concrete wall old school "Real" safes brAll the safes you find in sporting goods stores are crap (Liberty, etc) If you're serious on keeping your stuff safe, plan on spending 4-5K and above, but it gets you a real safe I got my AMSEC BFX 6636 on sale for 4200 from High Noble safes in California (It's a 7k dollar safe and weighs 1500 lbs) Great buy Look for sales Do your research Yes, it costs to have a safe company move it if you move But (as in most things) you get what you pay for God Bless!

What works really well is a simple Halloween fog machine I know a guy who set one up behind the safe and it filled the room with fake smoke fast you can't see at all can't steal what you can't see and thief isn't sticking around with smoke billowing out of the house

"All you're doing with a safe is buying time" that's pretty much true of any security devices you may have in your home Door locks, window locks Video surveillance and other types of security systems are designed either for more data (so you know who it was that broke in or did something bad) or so that your provider can send response in a timely manner But none of the regular devices will ever stop a determined thief / bad guy

Needed to hear this Sir! I have kids who are starting to get a bit older now, I’ve been sort of getting away with just putting my guns in higher places but now they’re taller I have six firearms & I’m looking at safes It’s my responsibility as a man & a father to be able to deter them from getting their hands on them until they’re older and more experienced with them brbrThis is a new perspective, also TYFYS! I’m on my 9th year in the Army, I’ll be getting out in the next year or so Did some time in Afghanistan back in ‘16-‘17
