Salam if this is based on the principle that a necessity makes permissible what wasn't according to the need I thought that was solely in regards to life and death situations Besides even with the example of a car most cars on the roads aren't SUV and they do fine in the winters because the city is in charge of cleaning most of the snow in the main arteries When it comes to a house the need is to have a shelter whether you own it or rent makes no difference He who can pay a mortgage can certainly pay rent so I guess I'm kinda shocked at this ruling for it really can legitimize riba in the eyes of many ppl Is this ruling backed by any other body of scholars and can you give it that reference?brI feel that this should have been given with a lot more in depth detail
