I had two projects a motor home, and a bore hole at home The motor home topped up a refrigeration system adding a day or so to off grid camping without running the engine 20 mins a day in Summer Not worth the expense against fuel costs The Bore hole was good instead of batteries I went for increased water capacity to give five days supply pumping all the time Sun shone saving on batteries and conversion losses UK Gov data says the three off season months give only 12 of June July August Ergo 8 times as many panels are needed in winter Might be better with ever bigger water tanks for 10 days There are capacitor devices to start pumping at lower light levels I found expensive but pumped 20 mins earlier and later into evening hope others find this helpful Comment from : @BrinJay-s4v |

I have a "350W" panel that typically generates about 4A (basically 100W) It's actually looks about the same size as yours, so I assume the Chinese retailers inflate the power to sell them Comment from : @ChrisKirtley |

An unsolicited tip for next time, if I may It would have been better to see the whole Victron app screen with the Solar voltage and current, and battery state, not just WattsbrbrWas it in Bulk for part of the test, and Absorption for a later part etc Watts alone aren't always very informativebrbr(Owner of many Victron products myself) Comment from : @EmberOffroad |

What would I need to make a solar power system to power my 35kw pool heater Comment from : @TheMono25 |

I discovered a method that can replace solar panels and it doesn't matter the light or the direction of the sun, it's just the heat of the sun and it works with any other heat and makes electricity The materials used are cheapbrAnd it doesn't take up any space at all like solar panels nowbrIt does not need to be washedbrIt does not need to circulate to sunlight, it produces electricity at any temperaturebrI worked for my method for twenty yearsbr I sell my method for two hundred million dollarsbrThank you for my answer Comment from : @imanetebari8180 |

I have a question for you, please I have a Starlink and use a small generator to power it The problem is, when the generator runs out of gas, the Starlink loses its connection I find when the Starlink resets, I lose a constant connection and often my calls are affected I'm trying to find a solution that will allow me to run my Starlink 24 hours a day Any bright ideas? I'm looking into the Jackery power bank with solar power panels, but I'm not sure what's going to be best here I don't even mind plugging in my generator into the power bank once a day I really just need a constant signal while I'm at my vacation for high-quality business calls Comment from : @JessiJohnson1 |

Given all the facts does a 100 watt solar panel produce 100 watts of power at what percentage? Ballpark figure? brIn other words if I connect two 100 watt solar panels in west Georgia, what wattage would they produce per hour given the drag of the controller, wiring etc brWould it exceed 120 watts per hour is the question I'm pondering for like a power station for example Comment from : @hammerc |
|
Now I want a solar panel Comment from : @topfloorshooter1142 |

I would love to see you come England and try that as we have more days of cloudy and rain than sun Mate so your figures might be well Low Comment from : @David-hi9rp |

4,31 kWh for a heavy duty hour for a regular household would imply you can cook, use a microwave oven, coffee maker, do a short load of laundry and vacuum some stuff In addition o use a PC with peripherals for approx 4 hours Good going, you charged enough for one half day of my regular workload days in little less than 10 days Considering the cost of setting up a system to sustain my usual workload I guess I would need some 10-20 12V batteries at 75 Ah, 10 charge controllers at 30 A rating, 20 solar panels at 150 W each and a chunk of cablebrbrIn my locale at a reasonable priced cost of equipment we're talking 190 USD per panel, 10 USD per charge controller, approx 50 USD cable and between 900-1800 USD of batteriesbrThe whopper will likely be the inverter required costing some 1 000 USD to reach reasonable levels (Sum total 5850 - 6750 USD)brbrCost drops per kWh over time until failure rates increase at aging of equipment but the first 43 kWh's would run me approx 157 USD per kWhbrAnyone have questions about the reasoning?brbrMind you I am not saying it is a bad technology, just that the step to enter is leaving quite a lot to be desired Comment from : @shigatsuningen |

very usefull test, essprecially now for Ukraine thanx Comment from : @sergeylinnik9765 |
|
you don't say how you measured the output, and that can make a big difference Solar panels are somewhat constant-current, so if you do not adjust voltage (such as is done with an MPPT controller), you can lose a lot of power because your power receiver is not at the maximum power point voltage of the panel I have been living on solar power predominantly for about 25 years Of course cloudy days give me less power, but it takes heavy cloud cover to really cut the panel output Comment from : @CadeJohnson |
|
it is not like that, a100w volt solar panels ????? that 100w silcon panel that react to solar waves how it's designed !!brbri gess Comment from : @alla_alsayegh |

How much would this panel "out out" if the waste heat was extracted for use?brThis is an area the PV Panel industry needs to invest R&D time and money into Comment from : @anguscampbell1533 |

So, do you buy solar panels to charge cell phones or do you buy solar panels to run your house This 500 watt a day production wouldn’t even run my shaver or hairdryer My home here in north texas runs around 30 KWh a day which is 30,000 watts Nothing like natural gas produced energy from mega power plants Comment from : @robertgill448 |
|
Please learn how to get to the point Comment from : @kahwigulum |

It also depends on your latitude Take it down to the equator and you'll get more power Take it to say 80 deg north or south you will get less power Comment from : @SuperSarah1954 |

Gonna guess that a 100 watt panel might produce about 100 watts of power at the top end Comment from : @KC7ZXYtube |

Did I get this about right??? Average cost of a kilo-watt hour of electricity in USA is about 20 cents, which indicates that c $1 of electricity was generated in 10 days Comment from : @SunriseLAW |

Hi I’m Angelo from Maryland can you do this same experiment with mirrors attached around all the sides to see if wattage production goes up? Comment from : @angelogotrice |
|
In all the real world testing I have done, u can expect an average of 3x the size of the panel per day on a good day Bad days u will get far less great days maybe 4 to 6x the panel size Comment from : @dadandlokiinthewoods8806 |
|
Ok thanks for the info But whats your opinion on using this for say: power a basic wifi or tv or a single household appliance? And for how many hours? Comment from : @Blah-blah-sure |
