Watching this after getting an economics degree compared to beforehand (I first discovered these videos in high school) makes me realize just how badly Keynes actually gets rhetorically kneecapped here Firstly, modern economics and econometrics isn't particularly interested in pure Keynesianism anymore The modern school of thought is called neoclassical synthesis, and if you take an advanced micro class you will be surprised at how much of the base material underlying all of modern economics just sounds like mathematically formalized Austrian thought Today, Hayek's seminal Use of Knowledge paper is widely respected and seen as very important Secondly, Keynes' lines often distort or exaggerate things he did or even did not say to make them sound more arrogant and less nuanced than his views actually were The extent to which Keynes and Keynesian economists actually sincerely believed that war is unambiguously good for the economy (without nuance, namely that it was good *for that specific domestic economic situation*, allowing Hayek to tear down a strawman) or that the broken window fallacy isn't real (again without nuance, namely involving the theory of idle or unused capital, allowing Hayek to again tear down a strawman) is really oversold So yeah, not super thrilled with these videos anymore
