Really Great, thanks Comment from : @andrewyc3414 |

Really great tutorial - thanks Is it possible to have the graph paper background in the latest Xcode 63 Swift interface Builder window? I know this is not important but it does look good Comment from : @michaelosullivan7619 |

it's really amazing Comment from : @oasisgaming08 |

Garbage Collection has become a deprecated option as of Mountain Lion When you create projects simply enable ARC (Automatic Reference Counting), they give you a nice checkbox when you create new projects to do this As far as your other elements, they all should work as I show in these tutorials Comment from : @AppleProgramming |
I had the same issue but enabling ARC fixed it!
Thanks Comment from : @Babevdty |
Thankyou for your prompt reply I will look to upgrade and follow your advice about enabling ARC I really enjoyed following the tutorial and am keen to work my way through to the end Thanks again Comment from : @stephenmorrow4990 |
OK what am I doing wrong? I set garbage collection to required, as it says in the video and it stops my app building Every time I try to run it I just get Build Failed When I switch back to unsupported, hey presto it works I am using Xcode 432 Any advice gratefully received Comment from : @stephenmorrow4990 |

Now I would suggest anytime you start a new tutorial, just enable "Automatic Reference Counting" from the new project menu Don't worry about the memory stuff and I explain that in a later tutorial What happened was when I started the series it was either garbage collection or reference counting Now automatic reference counting (ARC) is what will replace both both GC and manual ref counting Sorry about the confusion Comment from : @AppleProgramming |
That won't be the worst one you find ;) Comment from : @AppleProgramming |
wow you recorded this at 12:40 in the morning? Comment from : @TheZobot1 |
is objective c garbage collection using tracing or reference counting? Comment from : @rbrtchng |
Yep, been meaning to get to talking about this stuff in both Cocoa and Obj-C tutorials Comment from : @AppleProgramming |
I explain more about creating your own nib files with controllers in later tutorials I currently have the NSWindowController tutorial and I'm working on the NSViewController tutorial Comment from : @AppleProgramming |

@dagr8master
Very well! Comment from : @DanielHauser |
@dagr8master
I can understand if somebody doesn't like a programming language
Like me, I don't like Java
But HATING a programming language?!? Comment from : @DanielHauser |
@dagr8master
VERY small knowledge Comment from : @DanielHauser |
@davepamn Delegates and data sources will be coming up You only have one application so not sure what you mean on that last question Comment from : @AppleProgramming |
Garbage collection makes X-Code very similar to VB VB handles all of its garbage collection automatically Comment from : @Louise-ai-agent |
Will you explain what delegation means and why application instances were created? Is there one application instance per view? Comment from : @Louise-ai-agent |
@AppleProgramming Yeah 41 anyway I fixed it It was just something in my settings Comment from : @magstrike105 |
@magstrike105 Are you using Xcode 4, if not, you should double-click the nib file (MainMenuxib) and it should open inside Interface Builder Comment from : @AppleProgramming |
