The hot 'cold' water tap issue at home or in that hotel is a serious issue guys - legionella Lagging pipes if cold & hot systems run close should be mandatory to reduce this risk Other than that ommision great vid thanks

Tip: don't put the boiler on at all My leccy bill for the last year was 350 Wear jumpers and a woolly hat The shower heats itself I used no heating and still alive

A few ideas worked for us: 1) turned thermostat down to 18C in winter and kept dehumidifier on to reduce damp air; using jumpers and blankets, we soon got used to a cooler house last winterbr2) in summer, wash hands using cold water tap (it’s the same temp as the hot water tap which is still cold until hot water finally makes it downstairs from the hot tank - thing is, all you’ve done with the hot tap is to fill a pipe with hot water, only for the heat to be lost from the pipe) 3) Lay a plank on floor along length of integral garage door to stop draft in winter 4) Use door lagging to block drafts 5) turn down temp of water thermostat on hot water tank 6) Don’t leave doors open to outside 7) Turn off tv and media box at the wall when not in use and not recording The heat the plugs give off gives a clue about how much electricity they use! 8) Install LED bulbs, even in cooker hood Finally, we decided not to pump cash to Putin and survived with our central heating switched off from February until now (Sept) If cold, we used an electric radiator for just one room

I run my radiators at 50 degrees and it's still warm enough in the winter, having said that I have cast iron radiators which I feel produce a better heat which lasts longer anyway I live in a 3 bed detached 1960s bungalow with 10 cast iron radiators and a 30kw combi boiler, both combined last year my gas and electricity usage was £637 which isn't bad at all thermostat was left on 24/7 during the winter months and set no lower than 18 degrees, happy days

About to change my 30 year old gas boiler and I'm considering going for one with solar heating option as I have a large south facing roof, do you have any thoughts on this?

Not sure about the little fans that go underneath the radiators brIf you think about it, it’s the same concept as on IT equipment brThey are designed to cool and keep cool warmbr equipment So why would you add them to radiators that are giving off heat? brSurely you would be “pulling cold air” from the floor (heat rises) onto the radiators which effectively cools down the radiators but still pushing the same air into the room Doesn’t make sense to me I work in IT 😂

What about turning the temperature down on your condensing boiler in warmer weather to reduce cycling? Install weather compensation? The gadget for that on my new Baxi was £30, even a 2 saving would make that a no-brainer Also, British Gas and OVO are offering hive and Tado kit at £120 for customers at the moment

Used to be 21c but since I ended up on variable rate went to 17c But mostly turned off since new rate in April and now and wearing a jumper
