It's fine to accept the fact if learning languages will give ability to feel more empathy and care better about another people feeling, not even every person with this hobby able to express themselves in social life cause according to my point of view there are so many introverts find this type of activities as their habits in learning they but were just shy Comment from : @家伙书呆子-中国人 |

Her TED Talk was nice, but here’s the truth: she is NOT a Third Culture Kid She is simply a biracial, mixed-race child living in China Hong Kong is part of China I challenge the TCK label because I am similar—half Vietnamese and half American, born and raised in America Do you consider me a Third Culture Kid? Absolutely not! The term TCK inaccurately describes her; she is biracial To be considered a TCK, one must live outside of their parent cultures For example, she must live in other country like Vietnam beside China and France, I apologize for the criticism, but this is the fact Comment from : @winterly1200 |
|
|
The first part, about her experience as a "third child," definitely resonated with many audiences However, the rest part about second language learning seemed a bit disconnected Probably, it would be more relevant to explore the connection between language and identity Comment from : @YuxiaoYang-f4v |

well, u r not alone as there are a lot of Eurasians in HK, girl I went to an international school for KG and primary school literally, most of us speak cantonese at school, even for those who are half blood i dont see any TCK struggles they encounter, if yes, only minimal if one is born in hk, there is genuinely no cultural shock we watch cantonese tv programs every day, consuming chinese food and celebrating chinese festivals, in particular if either parent is a hongkonger on the contrary, if a mixed-blood person or an ethnic foreigner moves back to his country of origin after s;pending years in hk since birth, as you said, he will become an outsider there, and cultural shock he experiences will even be more intense Many ethnic foreigners who are not born in hk learn cantonese and putonghua for the purpose of survival Comment from : @GK-rc4oc |

Learning a second language has totally changed how I see things It’s amazing how it opens up new perspectives and helps you connect with people on a deeper level Being able to chat in another language makes you more understanding and gives you a real feel for different cultures I've found that it makes me more adaptable and open-minded, letting me catch little details I might have missed otherwise This whole journey has really shaped who I am and how I vibe with the world Honestly, i think everyone should dive into learning a new language!) Great video! It makes me think of my children: I'm from Austria and my partner is from Belgium and we live in Spain Spain is their home and if you ask them, the children would say they're Spanish They do get to visit our countries often but they feel very Spanish It just makes it hard sometimes when I explain that in Austria or Belgium some things are done differently but they usually understand that Both are still young so we'll see how they feel when they grow older Love from Spain🌻 Comment from : @adelheidjaeger3201 |

While I'm not a third culture kid, I grew up in Armenia, speaking a language that only our nation speaks Working in an international organization, I’ve seen firsthand how important a second language is for communication, thinking on your feet, and sharpening your thinking What I find especially cool is that I get to teach others some Armenian words and phrases to Europeans and Americans It feels amazing to have English as a second language while sharing something as unique as Armenian with people who are unfamiliar with it It adds a special layer to my cultural identity Comment from : @hasmikasatryan2947 |
