Diane gets the best toys! Comment from : @thisismyname007 |
Very impressive playing as Diane Bish never disappoints But why oh why do so many American organists always ruin the music of that period of the English organ Stanley came from a period when the true English organ (of which he was a virtuoso) was a much smaller instrument and often without a pedal board at all And it was for this instrument that he composed this piece, not a large instrument at full organ You might as well play the Brahm's Lullaby with a full marching band at fff, the absurdity would be comparable To perform Stanley (and Hook, Greene, Bennett etc) with a full modern organ, with en chamade trumpets, with full pedals (a part that even had to be made up as Stanley wrote this without a pedal part) so that the sound is made muddy and indistinct because of all that is going on, is to bastardise its wonderful profound simplicity But, there again, I guess Americans will always prefer something loud and brash despite its creator probably turning in his grave Comment from : @mrjayguess6895 |
What an amazing organ played by a brilliant organist in a Presbyterian Church Comment from : @belfastritz |
Magnificent! Comment from : @JOHN-tk6vl |
That organ has so much clarity that if you are hearing something getting drowned out you might want to check your sound system That tempo is about right for the mood of the piece, that much brass melds better above the tempo of a dirge Comment from : @paulj0557tonehead |
soothes the soul , such a talented lady I wonder how many wonderful churches sadly are no more or have lost there organs
Comment from : @merklereenactment |
man, be quiet! This music is not to fast, stop complaining please thank you Comment from : @jeraniwashington7271 |

molto filologicaun bel 32 piedi alla fine con il tutti Comment from : @markmusic69 |
The baarpfiefe played al basso would give a cute, chamber feel This is neither cathedral nor symphonic music, and certainly not worthy of Trans-Siberian Orchestra like the registration suggested Comment from : @333666666 |
I'm in Heaven! So beautiful! Comment from : @locoCP1900 |
Thank You Madame Diane Bish for Sharing your organ music to us i've been an organist in our local church here in the Philippines and I've been watching your program the Joy of Music every Sunday at EWTN an hour before going to our church early in the morning (4:00am) to serve and hear the Holy Mass To God be the Glory!!!! magnificent organ play by a decent organist tgese days is rare were a dying breed of musicians ,excellent performance Comment from : @TheAngelsong1 |
Sorry, but for me the whole thing is just so loud that the main tune is mostly drowned out by what she played 3 bars earlier She just about holds herself in check on this one, but MrsBish, for 95 of the time, plays EVERYTHING way too fast What's the problem? Is she trying to prove something? Comment from : @007Greebo |
Diane Bish is a wonderfull organ player!!! she plays the organ with - we would say in germany: "leichtigkeit" some kind of (can't find it in my dicionary) light playing without any stress that's what I wanted to say :-)
Although I don't like when she pronounces "Bach" like "Buck" or something like that well doesn't matter Comment from : @timo201282 |
"Why?" I wonder to myself "does diane always insist on wearing rings during her performances?" They always wind up flipping over or slanting sideways This can't possibly be comfortable for her and is a real distraction when you are trying to watch her keyboard skills Comment from : @gramps2matt |
amazing work , i am a great fan conceirning matters such as the horns i see before me , she has a great top too , always a must when having ones back to the pubic when performing Comment from : @summerdaez |
She's Queen of the Keyboard, long may she reign Comment from : @r0g3r5m1th |
In my humble opinion this is THE Trumpet Tune of all Trumpet Tunes It is a wonderful piece both to play and listen too While I don't agree with everything Ms Bish does in every particular, I have to applaud her for her incredible accomplishments She has done SO MUCH to bring the joy of the organ and it's music to SO MANY people globally She also has technique to burn Anyone who loves the organ should heartily thank her for her enthusiasm and passion What exciting playing! Comment from : @stearmankc |
Totally awesome! Loss for words! Comment from : @lasalleman |
she's doing f***** great ! ! ! ! ! !
greetings from germany
(bach would probably have liked her playing too) Comment from : @timo201282 |
Imagine tuning that organ! Comment from : @CantorNikolaos |
It's sad so many seem not to like this rendition of the piece, and that they use that opportunity to take personal digs at the performance and performer YMMV, I guess
For me, I simply enjoy it each time I listen, which is multiple times a week Comment from : @mdmnmdllr |
Are you trying to say that this is not John Stanley but Jeremiah Clarke? If so you are very wrong!! Comment from : @ianepb |
just being there and hearing this organ must be astouding the video does not do justice i think when diane plays both trumpets it sounds lika a cathedral organ Comment from : @bachluthology2 |
the sound is a bit too sharp when someone uses 8' and 16' together
when they are alone they sound great but when together run, run for your EARS Comment from : @potamiag |
Yes! It helps a great deal that she uses a clean orchestration and fingering with only a few stops - particularly the very fine trumpets Her posture is very good, too - not theatrical and showy A talented woman who showed us she can do proper Baroque-style interpretation Comment from : @tdmthomas |
Its called Trumpet Voluntary for nothing You NEED THE TRUMPETS !!
And the final of this piece, has to be played on Tutti to feel, experience and joy of the organ and this piece Comment from : @ArieVisker |
Une femme à l'orgue houa! Les temps changent! Heureusement et very good! Comment from : @ANTOONMAKA |
Rather nice organ xD Comment from : @wtkwhite |
English organs in Stanley's day didn't have independant pedal divisions! Comment from : @1401JSC |
The Holland, Mi concert was held at Dimnent Chapel at the Hope College campus The organ was very good while the space was equally good Comment from : @tamiasthechipmunk |
which church was that held at? I'm from Vriesland MIwouldn't it have made to have her play on LaGrave's Organ in GR? It's the biggest organ around Comment from : @daneslord |
Dear Diane , Always a great joy to meet you, to listen to you - thank a lot ( from France ) Comment from : @MichelTretout |
Indeed I attended a concert Diane held at a church in Holland, MI Hearing her live blows away hearing her on TV Comment from : @tamiasthechipmunk |
I love the sets of en chamades of the Coral Ridge organ for their fiery sound But St John's State Trumpets are in a league of their own IMO Maybe the Atlantic City convention Hall organs' 16' Grand Ophicleide stop standing on over 100" of wind pressure might top the State Trumpets That's if the caretakers over there can get that organ working again Comment from : @tamiasthechipmunk |
I challenge these trumpet stops to the State Trumpets at St John!! Comment from : @organflick |
Umto Speaks3703, en chamade means "to sound a parley" and thus are typically placed horizontally projecting from the front of the organ This organ at Coral Ridge does NOT have an en chamade English Horn An English Horn is a colour stop and in most instances as it is here at Coral Ridge, is found on the Solo Division Comment from : @CoutureOrganiste |
i like handel81's version alot more Comment from : @cntckl |
On this organ, the pipes in the back are called the Antiphonal Division featuring the large Trumpet de Fetes
Also in the back: 2' Fifteenth, 4' Octave, 8' Spitzflöte and Spitzflöte Celeste, and 8' Principal Additions have been added in the back, but at the time of this recording, this was the specification Comment from : @fansofdianebish |
Diane Bish is indeed an awesome organist As for the Coral Ridge Organ, I would wait on judging this instrument The television stations the Joy of Music airs on have poor audio quality which is quite a shame since the Joy of Music episodes are recorded at some of the best organs America and Europe has to offer Get organ centric labels like Delos or Gothic to record the Coral Ridge Organ onto CD and I bet the instrument would sound completely different than it does on TV Comment from : @tamiasthechipmunk |
I would visit the church's website The music section tells all about the concerts and performances coming up It also lists contacts (email, phones) for additional info Comment from : @fansofdianebish |
Ottimo******* Comment from : @decimaquinta69 |
that was amazing! Comment from : @kipmarlap |
That is assuming they are French However, they frequently go by many other names and the true French Trompette en Chamade is vertical like any other Because there are five different sets of horizontal trumpets on this organ, it is necessary to distinguish between them They are, in this case, assigned several names, including Herald trumpet (8') and English Horn (8') Another good one that this organ does not have is the original horizontal trumpet, namely, Spanish Trumpet Comment from : @speaks3703 |
The official name of those trumpet things are Trumpet En Chamade Comment from : @fansofdianebish |
I am not for one minute knocking Diane Bish She is fantastic organist, but I still feel, you would produce a better quality of sound, by scrapping those fake trumpet type things, Having the traditional organ pipes, it sounds a lot better
I must admit it gives the Organ character, but nothing special
With trumpet things, the timber is very thin, reedy even General MIDI sounds just as good, (regards sound quality) Comment from : @falcons1988 |
even so, the trumpets still sound like demented oboes Give me a real trumpet any day Comment from : @falcons1988 |
Keep in mind, this recording is not of the best quality They sound completely different in person Comment from : @fansofdianebish |
does anybody have the sheet for this piece? I've searched all over for it, but just can't find it Thanks:) Comment from : @mouritz123 |
Now that you do mention that, I somewhat agree But I think that is a very distinct sound that gives this organ it's character Comment from : @pete379x4778 |
those trumpets on the recording sound like demented oboes Comment from : @falcons1988 |
good, but you still can't beat an actual trumpet playing it, with organ Comment from : @falcons1988 |
I'm getting married in June & using this tune for my processional & the church has trumpet pipes with the organ Beautiful! Comment from : @IrishLizzie04 |
I have long been a fan of Diane Bish and have seen this marvelous pipe organ on TV for years Well, last week on my vacation to FL I actually played several pieces on this organ What a privilege! It is an incredibly beautiful instrument If you want sheer power, this is it Those 8 foot trumpet stops are enough to blow you out of your seat! This video is probably from the late 80's because the new console was installed in 1989 Thank you, staff of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church! Comment from : @chrissybayby |
