Also, in 1987, amazingly and unbelievably, not one of Dale Earnhardt’s 11 victories came at Daytona or Talladega Comment from : @539strt |
Just imagine, if not for an ignition wire, Earnhardt would have won seven races in a row In the race the ignition wire shorted, Earnhardt had the dominant car by a wide margin Comment from : @539strt |
this dude was the man Comment from : @oscarjimenezsr560 |
87 was definitely Earnhardt sr best year and a average finish of 59 very impressive for 11 wins Comment from : @austincharbonneau1206 |
How many times did Bill Elloott and Ford cheat during his career no secret well known Comment from : @HalMilbury-rd6sb |
Wide open 4 barrels,,no Res plates yet That would happen in 1988 Love the sound, and the drivers miss the driveability Now, it's just Lego blocks all clustered together into turn 1 Earnhart had some strong SBC motors back in the day Comment from : @kh40yr |
Went to most of these races he won that year and luckily took my 35mm Pentax camera to shoot picturesbrBoth Martinsville,Richmond, Dover and Rockingham races and what would later turn out to be historic eventsbrI was extremely fortunate to have seen those races along with all the great drivers and teams from that era Comment from : @hollywood3190 |

Dale Earnhardt was unbeatable in 1987 Comment from : @jbucktheman |
The "3" greatest drivers in motor racing history is Dale Earnhardt, Lewis Hamilton & Michael Schumacher <--(only on his downright abusive & unethical actions during races) & only Michael Schumacher was a nasty nasty dirty driver being an intimadator #3 was magnificent!!! Being a cheap shot man #7 was the master! Being a true & real "I want to earn their respect" was #44 response only #3 & #44 actually earned their place in true racing history #7 was gifted with lots & lots of "family money" Michael was good, but he was absolutely no Dale Earnhardt nor a Lewis Hamilton on his absolute best day! Comment from : @michaelb6420 |
Tried to spin me out twice brI ain't taking itbrConfidence is high at RCR Comment from : @Dd13200 |

Black flags are full of shit Comment from : @joe-hp4nk |
In terms of win count and average finish, definitely, although the margin he had over the runner up was bigger in 1994 That year, helped by the accident that ruled out Ernie Irvan, he beat Mark Martin by 444 points (despite the fact that he only scored 4 wins and had an average finish of 80) I guess another part of the reason for the extent of the gap was because of the distraction the Tyre War between Goodyear and Hoosier Comment from : @SiVlog1989 |
These cars and the ones of the early 90s are the best looking cars that ever hit the track They even had the best sponsors at that era I miss the tobacco sponsorships that used to be Comment from : @thraxpac7179 |
Holy shit when he gave an interview in his car I just cannot see the lack of space a Hans device fills up, it just looks so empty, and no headrest just a metal plank, I mean I know they wear helmets but don't you want a bit of cushion for your head after you get smashed forward and slam backwards? It's a tragedy, he really was and probably will be the greatest racer Nascar will ever see Comment from : @bencheevers6693 |
i came here for Daniel Riccardo Comment from : @veronicaleal6525 |
👍 Comment from : @jdbpennamesonofharraant3367 |
I watched Dale race this car at LEE speedway in NH His hood got loose and came up over his windshield blocking his view He finished the race with his head hanging out the drivers side and still won the race Fast forward to this past weekend at White Mountains Motorsports Park, Jason Corliss battled with DJ Shaw in the ACT tour and Corliss' hood did the same damn thing Dale's did and he won the race by about a bumper length Insane race and crazy that I saw this happen twice Comment from : @Prez76 |
He had the championship sewn up by April Comment from : @AlonsoRules |

It’s very likely that the #25 team would have been way more than a distant footnote in HMS’s history if Tim Richmond hadn’t been a fuccboi Comment from : @superbird4351 |

Which season was more dominant Dale Earnhardt 1987 or Jeff Gordon's 1998 Comment from : @jasondavis7186 |
See that you have good taste in music 👍 Comment from : @djuanboone4830 |
Earnhardt straight up dominated that year! He was expecting Tim Richmond in the Rick Hendrick Folgers car with Harry Hyde as crew chief to bring it for real The previous year Earnhardt won the championship but Tim Richmond won the most races and came close to taking the Cup Richard Childress and the boys on the team made sure they were ready for warfare over the winter going into the '87 season! Comment from : @KK-ex5zu |

11 wins Finished 2nd 4 times, and 2 of those 4 he led with either a lap or two to go Dominated Atlanta in March should have won but ran into mechanical trouble the last 100 miles only if he had a little more luck, Dale could have legitimately won 14 racesbut luck gave him wins at both Darlington races, Martinsville in the spring, and the all star Race Comment from : @JesusTapdancingChristOnaCross |
That 1987 season by Earnhardt was mind-bending dominance Comment from : @DavidJameson-z7r |

I'd imagine he would have lead the entire season had he won the Daytona 500 Comment from : @VGF80 |
The thing I wish internet fans who are critical of the sport would listen to when the announcers talk is this Not saying that there isn't things that need to be fixed, but how many times did they say "only 3 cars" or "only 4 cars" on the lead lap? So people complain that the races are boringhow boring do you think it was in 1987 and in those years regardless if someone dominatedit was very common for there to be 10 or less cars on the lead lap Comment from : @texasbbq3191 |
I love how many times they mentioned Harold Kinder's name on the final lap You never hear the name of the flag man or even of Brett Bodine too much at all on the telecasts any more It kind of adds a personal touch to the broadcast, with the broadcasters knowing all the people Comment from : @RacingWorldTV202 |
12:46 just saying no offense or nothing but I think you said GM Goodrich Comment from : @JakeT-nh5bh |

This was by far his best year win wise and average finish I think those teams they had in the 80’s and 90’s with RCR was the best of all time They won on all types of tracks against hall of fame talent Had it not been for North Wilksboro in 1989 with Ricky Rudd and a bad summer months in 1995 highlighted with a bad crash at Michigan he could’ve won the title those years Comment from : @gooseflatwaterfowlers |
