Okay, cool But did you get paid time off or sick leave If so how much? Did they offer health insurance? If so what kind? High deductible, low deductible, or no deductible? HMO or PPO? Did they offer a 401k with or without matching? What was the matching percentage? Did they offer some type of retirement plan at all? Base salary is cool until you have to start paying for the things listed above yourself

Do you get a lot of government work? The general public is largely unaware that government engineering work pays like 3-4 times the rate of private client work The RFQ process for contracted government professional services is supposed to ensure quality but mostly it breeds corruption because people want in on those juicy contracts

If you like structural engineering go the Mech Engr route and specialize in Stress & Dynamics Go into aerospace engineering and you'll be at $120k in 3 to 5 years

In 2012 I graduated from a power engineering course, took 35 years I had a 4th class license that I upgraded to 3rd class over the years Every year from 2013 to 2021 I made between $150,000-$195,000brbrI actually finished high school 1995 and everyone said, “go into computers” People didn’t know what that meant they just saw computers becoming more popular and common place and knew they had no idea how to use it I’m glade I didn’t I’m glade I chose a blue collar job Way more time off, way more money That’s how you choose a career Maximize your income with what you can tolerate that gives you the most time off for yourself to live your life

This is a little crazy brother, I see people without EIT taking 125k per year working as a structural engineer, with only 5 years of experience in US, I think you can open your own firm and take more money than that, no even one company will pay what you can make by yourself 🙌
