math is good, but when you calculate the roi you take into account full generation but not usage do you get refunded in the end of the year for storage kwh or smth? as if they are just lost you will see that it will take 8 or 10 years for fully payout

Sitting on top of the modules and standing on them as they're laying them is a no no This causes microcracks in the laminate and potentially cracks the cell Resulting in quicker degradation of the panel

I think you would have done better with a single inverter unit As a former solar installer, I hate micro inverters They seemed to have the terrible losses and malfunction rates due to overtemperatures as they are stuck cooking between the panel and the roof brMy single 10kW inverter (with 12kW of panels in Saskatoon SK, Canada) has done a best of 2 MWh in the month of June 2023 and worst of 0kWh this past Dec 2024 (covered in snow the whole month due to record snow and not getting them cleaned off once) Shoveling panels is the worst time investment I have ever made, doing the math once I figured it was about $006 - $010 per hour of work keeping them clear of snow in the winter I just like to do it for the exercise (is what I tell myself)

I saw on Reddit that there was some research done on the cleaning of solar panels Doing it with dish liquid or car cleaner led to a significant reduction in energy production as those cleaners left a light-reflecting film on them A wipe with alcohol afterward solved that issue

y ou are lucky if the batteries are still functioning, batteries may die, chargers may fail to function, inverters mostly may burn out, all these are not cheap to replace especially the batteries which must be replaced after a certain years

Well this is one of the problems with relying on the weather for electricity generation My guess is a winter like 1964 in the UK would finish off many remote wind turbines (& solsr farms) for months Especially if the power is cut & their backup gennies run out of DIESEL brI have been watching these useless white elephants sponging up endless grid electricity during cold high pressure in Dec/Jan, on their maintainence cycles 😢

In 30 years you will have numerous roof leaks from the panels (at best) and also a new roof, having to reinstall the panels afterward- costs which will further diminish that 30 years ROI of $35k I'm not against solar panels, I'm just pointing out that a 30 year ROI of $25k is pretty much trash

Its been mi experience that the first thing to go in a Solar setup are batteries and when these short out unless you are actively checking they just heat up and your generation diminishes start there and the maintenance of the pannels is every 2 months for peak efficiency
