You notice they won't even put biden on a silver coin because the man is a disgrace Comment from : Hunter Falck |
Hi Ben, unfortunately comparing different years and different mints with one another is like comparing apples to oranges For instance even a poorly struck coin can be considered an MS64 if that condition was above par for the particular mint in that year Comment from : trackydog |
these are NOT mint state they didn't leave the mint looking like this Comment from : Private User |

I will get a 1907 St Gaudens one day It's a dream coin of minebrbrQuestion for you - is there any difference in the relief height from 1907-1933? Excluding the high relief 1907's of coursebrbrAlso it seems like the rim is larger with the 1907 date Am I correct in that observation?brbrLastly would you say that later date double eagles, such as ones in the 1920's, exhibit more luster than the 1907 date?brbrThanks for your time and the great video Comment from : Neo Sauron |

All good points thanks Ben You're an MS 70 in my book! Might be worthwhile to point out the state of industrial art during this period In other words, a coin minted in 1927 (or especially 1932 with the tens) is considerably different than those minted 25 yrs earlier But yeah, those have been "put through the ringer" :) Comment from : Bruce Bartlow |
What is the highest graded one known to exist? Any 70 grades out there? Comment from : James James |
Hi Ben, I have a really nice 1927 Saint Gaudens that I picked up for $2000 a few months back Do you think it is worth getting graded? It looks just like your MS64 PCGS in your video but I noticed pricing is very minute PCGS NGS MS62 around $2075 MS63 $2100 MS64 $2150-2300 MS65 $2400-2700 MS65+ $3000+ MS66 $3300+ MS66+ $4900 I think at best I have a very nice MS63 to MS64 if I were to spend the $40 to get it graded I really like to just hold the coin without a holder and I wanted to know if you think it is better to have a coin like this ungraded since everyone and their mother sent these in to get graded already 260K graded in total by PCGS and NGC Do you think it is the massive amount of graded 1927 Double Eagles is why they don't sell for much? Do you think I should keep it raw and that is it worth more raw since someone like me would prefer to hold a coin like this without a plastic slab around it? Or if you could invent a device that can add the "D" mint mark so I can retire that would be great Comment from : Chai Charin |
Great video:)) Thank you! St Gauden’s Double Eagles are true gems Whether graded or ungraded just to have one or two of these gems is priceless Our fore-fathers had great insight in hiding these gems post-33 after Roosevelt’s gold confiscation took effect These coins and others could of easily been melted down and turned into gold bars to be stored at Fort Knox All of us owe a debt of gratitude to our forefathers Be well everyone Comment from : Joshua Israel |

Thanks for a very interesting video! I don't collect gold coins, because it would be boring to only add one or two coins to my collection each year, but it's still fun to see and talk about them Comment from : Gary S |
Like so many others, the Saint-Gaudens was a dream coin of mine I have two of the more common dates, 1924 & 1927 They are immaculate though -- both MS65 -- PCGS OGH holders I have considered having them regraded, but have always decided against it The fact that they are in the old holders also impacted that decision If you look at PCGS Photograde you will see that the MS62 (in video) is accurately graded They have marks -- they are gold -- gold is soft -- still uncirculated All nice coins for sure! Comment from : Don |
Wow sweet coins there, maybe one day I'll get one I hope thanks for sharing Comment from : stack attacker Wager |
Beautiful Gold! I need my sunglasses 😎 That 63 looks like a 64+ or maybe even a 65 Thanks for sharing! 👍 Comment from : Ontario100 |
The 1907 NGC MS63 is highly under-graded in my opinion It's easily a 64 and in all honesty looks like a 65 to me Comment from : James Tisdale |
I continue to be amazed with how much wear they allow and still call these Mint State That 62 just could not get an MS grade from me, etc The 3s and 4 likewise just have too many, but I know that is the standard Comment from : Eric Dawson |
Forget the negatives I love all the coins especially the orange one Comment from : Edward Slizewski |
The thing I find with graded gold coins is that they seem to be graded more appropriately versus say business strike coins I think they take a little bit more time with the gold and the people that grade them just might be a different group that grades the other bulk kind of stuff Comment from : Master Of Cents |
Bucket list coins for me! Someday I definitely hope to add one to my collection👍🏻 Comment from : Chris W |
