I laugh at the numerous comments below that say you are giving away the secret hiding spots to the criminals As if a criminal breaking into a house tells his partner in crime "the guy who lives here probably watches Jason Hanson videos, so instead of heading to the master bedroom to look for valuables, let's climb up in the garage and search through the boxes labeled Baby Clothes" Come on people Comment from : Mike Miller |

An important point is to never tell neighbors and untrusted strangers what you may have in your home that is abnormally valuable Especially if you live in a high crime or poor neighborhood I am a lawyer and I have seen many criminals and one of the reasons they burglarize a home is you bragging around your area about some valuable thing you have Also, even with friends or relatives, remember who may have drug problems as they also steal a lot Many thefts actually come from relatives with drug problems and victims foolishly believe blood will not steal from blood Drugs make people do things they would never do If there is any family or neighborhood gossip about anyone maybe being on drugs, take care to underplay stories about valuables you have or not tell those people you have anything valuable or allow them to be in your house where you cannot monitor them (even saying they need to use the rest room might give them opportunity to rummage through bedrooms or see what are in them for theft later Finally, have home security systems or at least have the labels (they are readily available) on your home as a deterrent Comment from : bob ross |

So I'm outside one day, and I had some of those plastic flower pots that you get from the store, just to transport the plant home There were several nested, up against the fence, in the weeds I thought, instead of throwing them away that might be a good place to hide something NO one is going through disposable trash flower pots, behind the garage, and shed, by a tree A minute or so later, the nosey neighbor comes over, starts talking, stops, looks down, and says that he bought a little tree, but it died, and he wants to return it, but he threw the pot away Can he have one of my pots? Glad I didn't have some bars in there! What are the chances?? I had a big cedar fence put up Comment from : pmarie2003 |

Would it make any sense to have sort of a 'dummy stash' in a bedroom in addition to the hidden spot--sort of like having an extra wallet with a little money in it to hand to would-be mugger? My thought is that a burglar might think "Okay, I found this naive suckers money right where I would expect it to be, so it's time to get out of here!" Perhaps a couple hundred dollars could be it, along with some fake jewelry and maybe some old coins of minimal value Comment from : Bob Jacobson |
|
The key is exactly that: lazy criminals can’t take their time It’s a quick in and out That’s why strong external deterrents are just as important as solid, internal fortitude Thanks again, and may God bless you your and dear family, and all true patriots everywhere!
