@theolivers-ij9gh
I am trying to learn Spanish for my work travel, which sometimes takes me to Spain and also for interaction with people in my area I have wanted to learn Spanish for a long time but have been held back because of the costs
Comment from : @theolivers-ij9gh

@Learnpetanque
I have a LOT of language learning experience (English, French, Spanish, German) over several decades, having grown up in a variety of European countries and the USA I have used Babble and Duolingo extensively and have tried a few others I completely agree that Babbel is the better choice and is now the only one I use I have the lifetime subscription - the cost is absolutely minimal - just compare it to any time in the past when you needed classes, books, and tutors!
Comment from : @Learnpetanque

@CandiBussiere-j5d
This was very good I now know what one I would go for to learn spanish
Comment from : @CandiBussiere-j5d

@gilltaylor6126
I’m learning Spanish right now with Michel Thomas I love his program but I have multiple learning types and like to see as well as hear the lessons, so having something like Babbel would really help me I was looking at getting Rosetta Stone, but love your review and so am leaning towards Babbel as I definitely want the grammar to be a large part of my learning experience so that I will make sense when I speak Spanish, as that is such a large part of that language brbrI’d love to win!! 🏅
Comment from : @gilltaylor6126

@veronabriscoe595
Is Babbel also an American app?

@michaelcloutier2447
Your only negative point about babbel was the pronunciation but, I tried babbel and you can adjust the accuracy If you adjust it to strict, it is very accurate, way better than duolingo Duolingo prononciation doesn't seems right (Learning russian)
Comment from : @michaelcloutier2447

@AlexaG-k2j
Babbel was the worse experience I ever had I was stuck for 2 weeks because they didn't have a button for me to continue the lesson After 2 weeks asking for support they couldn't fix the issue so I asked for a refund It's just a waste of time and money
Comment from : @AlexaG-k2j

@jessemcbride8818
Thanks for the video I'm trying to learn French
Comment from : @jessemcbride8818

@robh4671
it did the complete course with Rosetta Stone over three years, the fact they offer no translation for the words and sentences you are trying to learn make the whole exercise extremely difficult, I used google translate to help which made each lesson twice as long, and so frustrating, after three years I completed the course, yet I could hardly understand any conversation while listening to Italian speakers conversing , I felt I had totally wasted my time they say don't translate, so basically your trying to learn a language by looking at a photo and guessing what the photo is trying to say
Comment from : @robh4671

@DavidP0312
I want to learn Spanish My timeline is 6 months to be able to statically communicate I'm giving myself 5 years to Spanish fluency Sounds like I'll be looking at Babbel

@MaliciousWeiner
Does babbel teach Hebrew?
Comment from : @MaliciousWeiner

@heatherprincipe8537
I had a sample of Rosetta Stone many years ago and loved it Rosetta stated it would teach the language you wanted to learn the same way as you learned to speak your own language from birth That is what I experienced at the time Rosetta had me thinking in the language and that is the only way I would be able to learn it I tried Duolingo and was a waste of time Using English to teach me another language is a huge stumbling block for me For instance, Uno in Spanish is One and Dos is two but if you tell me Uno is One and Dos is two to teach me this other language it's jibberish to me I will not think Uno as One and Dos Two although can say it Rosetta was the one that had me thinking in the language to actually learn it
Comment from : @heatherprincipe8537

@jennascott9966

Comment from : @Ambilicious

@KarenPeticca
Thanks for the comparisons! I would love to learn to speak Spanish for several reasons The first and most important is to communicate with the families of my students I am a classroom teacher and I am finding that there are more Spanish speaking families with each new school year I believe it is so important to establish relationships and connect with not only the student, but the families as well This connection is an integral part of academic success Another reason is my love of travel I would love to be able to feel comfortable enough to engage in conversation with locals throughout my travels And finally, my mother was born and raised in Puerto Rico and unfortunately we had a pediatrician (in the late 60s and early 70s) that told my mother teaching me Spanish would only confuse me when learning and developing my English speaking skills So sad!! That is one regret my mother had taking the advice of this misinformed doctor It is now my intent to learn Spanish!

@CCoburn3
I tried Duolingo for several months trying to learn Spanish I did the lessons every day After six or seven months, I could tell you how much my cat liked swimming in a pool But I still couldn't ask the way to the restroom I don't have a cat I don't have a pool So my ability to discuss a hypothetical cat's love for swimming in a more or less mythical pool was worthless On the other hand, I often need to use a restroom In short, Duolingo is a waste of time I'm hoping for better things from Babbel Thanks for the video
Comment from : @CCoburn3

@jolenejoyner8872

@truthseeker2797
Excellent content Just what I needed to make a decision
Comment from : @truthseeker2797

@anonymousandrewpodcast
I have used the full version (duolingo Max with Ai) for over 2 years now and I have should be able to hold a conversation with (I chose Spanish) someone who speaks spanish and I cannot! I got caught up in Duolingo gamify While I frequently won tournaments, and have a daily streak of 1350 days in a row, it took the focus off the learning and more on the "winning" I am switching to Babbel as per your recommendation! Thanks for breaking down the differences!
Comment from : @anonymousandrewpodcast

@digimarui
Thanks to share, it really helps me to decide Babel for my niece Because the Grammar based
Comment from : @digimarui

@dawnsnyder8385
Traveled the Camino last year with such limited Spanish speaking skills Planning another route in 2025 in which I plan to have improved language skills in order to have a deeper experience!!
Comment from : @dawnsnyder8385

@povtrips
You forgot to compare an important point, the amount of languages that you can learn with each, after watching your video i went straight to babbel site but they only have 13 languages available, versus 39 on duolingo
Comment from : @povtrips

Comment from : @Alecognuck23

@levistokes3960
Im currently learning Navajo on duolingo The course is ok but they don't have voice recordings like the rest of the courses Which is SUPER important for a language like Navajo It's a very oral and tonal language, so pronounciation is important However, they do have navajo on Rosetta Stone through a third party native american language program Navajo is part of rosetta Stone's Endangered Language Program So im going to definitely buy it through the Navajo Language Renaissance It's a non-profit that signed a contract with Rosetta Stone to try to bring the language back They also have inuit and Ojibwe too in this program brbrThe problem with a lot of these Native american languages are that thete arent much resources for learning them
