The fizz is carbon dioxide Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) raises the (ph), which raises the acidity (kh) in the water The higher the temp of the water, the faster the kh rises, the lower the temp, and the more baking soda needed for the same effect brThat's why when you raise the Ph in a pool, it says dont mix because you'll burn the crap out of yourself brAlso, you have to be careful in the aquarium, depending on your water chemistry adjustments and water volume
