I have wanted to be a real estate agent since I was a kid, but I am 38 & have not gotten around to it We have 9 kids 3 are grown now I really want to pursue my dream, but I am nervous about juggling my responsibilities at home & a career I know there is an 87 failure rate within 5 years For my situation, it is probably a 90 chance, but that also means there is a 10 chance I could finally have my dream job & be successful I just don't want it to negatively affect my family

I am 19 and wanting to get into real estate and I am currently in a pre-licensing course to become an agent I have a mentor that I believe is a great real estate agent who is on only his second year but he already has closed a lot of deals and gotten a lot of advice from his previous mentor I am just very nervous and anxious about everything and worried it will not work out I currently work a full time job and will continue to no matter what happens Does anybody have any advice for me especially being so young trying to get into the real estate business?

I remember in 2007 when I was working in real estate seeing people buy homes new from builders with the intention of selling before close of escrow to a new buyer for profit The crash was so brutal and fast that I remember seeing a lot of these units foreclosed on with the builder plastic still on the carpet

In my experience the material you get tested on to get your license is almost irrelevant to what you actually need to know in practice, so my advice would be to never stop learning

There are more Real Estate Agents than houses for sales on these days Everyone wants to become a Realtor most of them have to spend thousands of dollars in gas showing houses and many hours of your time answering phones calls and emails from potential buyers to sell a house ! Here in Dallas Texas if you want to have more clients you have to speak Spanish because there are more hispanic people buying more houses

Best advice is to seek out who you admire in the industry, look at what they do and what makes them successful and give them a call! Do not look at any real estate company for guidance to create success, the biggest separating factor is you as an individual, your OWN personal brand and USP

He can sign up with a real estate brokerage and work with a mentor for his first few transactions (share a small portion of his commission with the mentor) and he will be good after that He's young and will catch on quickly Good Luck!
