Am I weird that I’m only really interested in 22k? For me, it’s largely about the handleability and the appearance Even if they weren’t “fragile”, almost all 24k coins are proofs or super shiny I just don’t like that I like the feeling of a coin used for commerce, even if it wasn’t actually used as such…like the Krugerand So for me, pre-33 and larger foreign coins (100 corona, 50 peso, etc) are what really interest me

I kind of disagree with your point though I respect your opinion To me the best gold to collect is any gold, and the less premium you pay for it the better I've collected maples, eagles, Indians, Perth Mint bars and coins, and even some generic rounds Basically whatever the lowest premium I can find the better As for the reporting, most dealers will report you to the IRS anyway if you try to sell $10,000 or more, a figure that hasn't been updated since 1971 and never will be So through the process of inflation eventually every single gold transaction an ounce or greater will be reported when you start to sell eventually after retirement (something for 20-40 year old stackers to keep in mind)

The US Mint has to make the gold eagle 24k It's lagging behind the other mints from around the world And you can't really compare production totals of the eagle and Buffalo, the eagle comes in fractional sized while the Buffalo only comes in 1 once, therefore a lot more eagles will be produced
