A real morgan silver dollar is slightly magnetic, but only slightly! If you take a small earth magnet of a particular size, hold the coin on a hard surface, at about a 45 angle, the small steel earth magnets that are about 1/4 inch in diameter, will slowly glide down the face of the coin! It will not stick to the coin, and it will not slide down unimpeded either!

First, no one selling a coin, particularly a rare coin, is going to let you do some of those tests That said, is it even safe to buy a coin in a pcgs case?I suppose those are faked to I used collect, but with all the fakes, I don't see much point as much as I enjoyed the hobby

If you start with a Pocket Ponger, and the coin tester all on your phone, youre done in under a minute It's just that you're making it much more difficult than necessary If one starts with the pinger, you usually need go no further

You can hear it's brass and cupronickel plated, not even silver plated The Chinese make this variety thicker for the weight to be close to 2673 I've seen the graders mess up a few of these that were silver I caught them, because of high spots and raised marks Those guys are far from perfect I mean they clean coins for you, but if you do it the same way it's cleaned, what???? Why rub an or use acid when any coinshop has a Sigma tester and would test for a donut lol😂

Mine is close to uncirculated it’s 2677 magnets don’t stick the dates and other letters look good compared to a real one I’m at 389 in diameter and 250 in thickness I don’t have a digital reading all I got is the lines on my caliper !

It is easier to use 18k gold acid to test for silver, it shows up white-ish and so much more easier than the actual silver acid testeralso if you add acid that you don't use a lot, or it is older and not worthy to use you can put it on all the marks to clean the testing stone I don't get a lot of platinum and it came with my kit and I use it to clean the stone ;-)

I have zero idea how one could be a silver (or gold, especially gold) buyer in 2022 without a Sigma Analytics machine That 1903 SD was an exceptional fake, that would fool even pretty experienced coin guys I also like a magnet test, you can get little 1/4" x 1/4" rare earth magnets out of a dead CD player that work great
