I was thinking more along the lines of using one cpu to process task pretaining to certain programs, and the other for the other tasks from other programs, for example, it would be interesting to look into the thought of maybe having a single computer with two CPUs, two GPUs, enough RAM to store a whole Call of Duty game in it all at once, having a setup like that would allow for someone to let's say run a game on one CPU and GPU, and stream it off of the other ones? idk, just a thought, let me know about the technical issues that could arise maybe someone could solve them one day, or let me know if this isn't viable or just not worth it? 🫡

So would there be some "activatable guidance" telling the second cpu to act as a kinda south bridge? that would distort the entire mainboards architecture, right? or could that be built in such a a manner? i'd doubt that If the two cpu's would be of identical build how could software differentiate without marking in some material way, besides software (running)? i'm not a nerd though, just thinking

I know almost nothing about computers but I vaguely watched a video on supercomputers and what i got from that video is basically they are normal computers but with thousands of processors so after that I looked up this topic to learn more So how do the supercomputers differ from normal computers with just a bunch of extra processors or cpu’s (or whatever they are) slapped onto them?

If you looking for short answer Data center technician here All of our servers have dual cpus They are not there to combine power, but for two purposes: 1 If one fails the other kicks in 2 Each one has a purpose different from the other one ie two customers could use same host

they deliberately failed this technology since it was scalable for the end user, i am sure the mobos could have been redesigned and on softwares could be designed to take advantage Imagine having such a mobo and to increase its performance all you had to put in another cpu and it would theoretically provide 2x the performance but that would mean less profits for these organizationsbrplanned obsolescence is a real thingbrthey just want us to keep on buying again and again regardless of no major technological breakthrough

many years ago there was a duel slot 1 Pentium motherboard i am using a old dell t7500 duel xeon processor and it works fine it will multitask without any problems GPU 2060 is the limiting factor with the machine

I had one HP z620 2xe5 2690 86gb od ddr3 Ill tell you right now there is no latency and it is actually fast asf! Unlimited fire fox tabs or whatever while gaming In all fairness you have 12 ddr3 access point to fead upt to 32 ligical threads ddr3 as lower latency That is hard to beat These modern 16 core gaming pc's are actually better at gamibg but if you need something for research as workstation and do light gaming it works it was better at recording 4k lossless gameplay with a rtx 2080 than a 5950x 32gb ddr4 rtx 3090
