This overlooked the availability of very cheap cpu - $1 cpu - which would offer excellent value fr money if several were possible to mount on a motherboard Comment from : @constructioneerful |

Does anybody here have experience using a dual cpu mb for a DAW? I used to work for a DAW company and I could swear that one of our guys had one And it made me think: maybe it's worth it since DAWs rely on cpu power? Comment from : @BorisYonchev |

I was thinking more along the lines of using one cpu to process task pretaining to certain programs, and the other for the other tasks from other programs, for example, it would be interesting to look into the thought of maybe having a single computer with two CPUs, two GPUs, enough RAM to store a whole Call of Duty game in it all at once, having a setup like that would allow for someone to let's say run a game on one CPU and GPU, and stream it off of the other ones? idk, just a thought, let me know about the technical issues that could arise maybe someone could solve them one day, or let me know if this isn't viable or just not worth it? 🫡 Comment from : @SirEmjayYT |

So would there be some "activatable guidance" telling the second cpu to act as a kinda south bridge? that would distort the entire mainboards architecture, right? or could that be built in such a a manner? i'd doubt that If the two cpu's would be of identical build how could software differentiate without marking in some material way, besides software (running)? i'm not a nerd though, just thinking Comment from : @Simon_Jakle__almost_real_name |

I know almost nothing about computers but I vaguely watched a video on supercomputers and what i got from that video is basically they are normal computers but with thousands of processors so after that I looked up this topic to learn more So how do the supercomputers differ from normal computers with just a bunch of extra processors or cpu’s (or whatever they are) slapped onto them? If you looking for short answer Data center technician here All of our servers have dual cpus They are not there to combine power, but for two purposes: 1 If one fails the other kicks in 2 Each one has a purpose different from the other one ie two customers could use same host Comment from : @whiteeagleforce2040 |

Hey guys There is a technology called Flexible Return and Event Delivery, (FRED) Is it a reality in the mainstream operating system, or not? (We can switch rings from ring3 to ring0 via traps/interrupts or via special instruction called 'syscall' FRED is a kind of 'syscall', but using new features just like shadow stacks) The goal to find a faster way to switch from ring3 to ring0 Comment from : @frednora |

|
they deliberately failed this technology since it was scalable for the end user, i am sure the mobos could have been redesigned and on softwares could be designed to take advantage Imagine having such a mobo and to increase its performance all you had to put in another cpu and it would theoretically provide 2x the performance but that would mean less profits for these organizationsbrplanned obsolescence is a real thingbrthey just want us to keep on buying again and again regardless of no major technological breakthrough Comment from : @YasirKhan-we2sk |

My question is, since I will have 2 or more CPUs on board, is it possible to run two OS independently(each on its own CPU) or can I just dedicate others to virtual machines? Please don't tell me my bio is not programmed to work that way Comment from : @bidav2114 |

I don't understand why they don't have CPUs for all the interfaces, including RAM and EEPROM, and main "switching" CPUs Also, Linus forgotif you have a male CPU coupled with a female CPU, they work better together -- downside -- you get more little CPUs Comment from : @archangel_one |

|
I had one HP z620 2xe5 2690 86gb od ddr3 Ill tell you right now there is no latency and it is actually fast asf! Unlimited fire fox tabs or whatever while gaming In all fairness you have 12 ddr3 access point to fead upt to 32 ligical threads ddr3 as lower latency That is hard to beat These modern 16 core gaming pc's are actually better at gamibg but if you need something for research as workstation and do light gaming it works it was better at recording 4k lossless gameplay with a rtx 2080 than a 5950x 32gb ddr4 rtx 3090 Comment from : @ryanmurphy4139 |

This fool forgot about the classified SR2 😂 Comment from : @deeeezel |

I still say this is a gaming opportunity…brbrHave a powerful multi core thats amazing for work like video and other heavy liftingbrbrHave another one with low core count say 4 core designed for highest clock possible and exceptional cooling This would be the main cpu for main game workloadsbrbrI am convinced this would offer better performance than trying to make something that does heavy lifting and MHz for games when there are so many cores on the diebrbrThis differs from current and earlier dual cpu as it has dedicated cpu for different purposes and with the right chipset/drivers it should allow these to work without too much cross cpu traffic Comment from : @johnhogg9756 |
|
I feel like dual CPU could be super useful these days so that one CPU can run the OS and software (I'm looking at you Chrome) and one can purely focus on the game that you're playing Comment from : @olican101 |
