#1, the designers of the shark made it for fresh water It all had to be reworked because in the salt water it sank and had many problems #2, Susan Jane Backlinie (September 1, 1946 – May 11, 2024) Actress/stuntwoman rumored to have sustained injuries from wearing the harness(not true tho)However, that stunt was outlawed shortly after because: Waterboarding can cause extreme pain, damage to lungs, brain damage from oxygen deprivation, other physical injuries including broken bones due to struggling against restraints, and lasting psychological damage Adverse physical effects can last for months, and psychological effects for years #5, They wanted to "train a real shark" instead of using mechanical sharks Was quickly dismissed as it was an impossible goal #9, is in response to #1 Since things were not working properly, they shot other scenes w/out the shark, only implying it was there #10, again, part of #1 This is overlapping for # count increases When in fact, it is all part of the same thing #15 Same thing All being spread out to make this seem like more going on than there was IF nobody had ever looked into any of this, all of this would be "Things You Never Knew!" But this movie was done back in 1975 That is 50 years ago now people There is not much new to be said about this movie Maybe could find something out about the gaffs behind the scene? LOL

Back in the late 70's on my way to work I'd pass Roy Scheider each morning as he jogged up 77th Street toward Madison Avenue I wish I had the nerve to shout out "You're gonna need a bigger boat" or "Popeye, he's got a knife" as he jogged by!

That shark in the photos which was caught at the mouth of the Matawan river in 1916 (with 15 pounds of human fIesh in it's stomach) doesn't Iook Iike either a great white or a buII shark, aIthough it has a pointed nose, more Iike a great white I wonder what kind of shark it was, or maybe it was a hybrid

From what I understand Bruce malfunctioned constantly due to the salt water Bob Mattey, who created the rigs for the sharks and the sinking Orca designed them to cope with the salt water but the Universal Effects Department built it all for use in fresh water for some reason

And besides all the mechanical stuborness malfunctions of the Shark is broken and some actor rivalry at times frustrations it all turned out for the best And a hit it became and a classic till present I watched this at 8 years old can't remember ehy i ended up seeing that but i fo remember hiding my face every few minutes especially the lurkings under water and the darkness Now i love to watch it at my older age but some parts i do find horryfiyng even now And the very part that scares me the screams when someone bis attacked and when poor Quint ends up in its mouth at the end Absolutely superb and classic horror👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

Way Over Budget , Out of Time , Crap Breaking Down , Tides Not Being Right For Certain Scenes, Tempers Flaring, Taking All Day To Shoot 1 Min Of 1 Scene To Get It Perfect etc etc It Was Almost A Friggin' Disaster, But Spielberg Kept Begging Them To Be Patient & Trust Him On It As It Was Going To Be An Iconic Masterpiece !!
