I would say that, for immersion you don't necessarily have to travel Just watch movies, tv shows in the language, listen to music in the language (other methods listed), and also watch news in target language Usually news is read clearly and well-articulated, which makes it easier to understand what's being said Oh, and another great way is by making friends who speak the language you want to learn Bonus if they don't speak much of any other language you're fluent in, so you're forced to learn Romantic/love interest works even better Just saying lol

I always need to start with the absolute basics from classic language textbooks Once I get a solid hold on general grammar, pronunciation and basic words, I can get a decent amount of progress from language learning apps After that I'm ready to move on to some shows or books for kids And after that I'm ready to chat with people in a new language I also need to write with my hand a lot to truly remember things and have them sink into my brain Typing on phone or keyboard doesn't seem to have same effect
