If shipping activity to NY has increased so significantly, could it not be that these delays in physical delivery are due to a small staff being overwhelmed rather than a shortage of bullion? After all normally they don’t ship it about much, it just goes from bin to bin Genuine question, I just don’t know Separately, what administration in their right mind starts wondering out loud whether the gold reserves in Fort Knox are really there?

I doubt very much that England actually owns more than a very small fraction of the 5 thousand or so, it is mostly foreign and just stored for them Trump knew this and got theirs out fast Labour Party and their Finance Minister Gordon Brown in the early 1980's sold most of what was owned at the at that time at the lowest price ever in the last 30 years, well documented in history if you want to find exact details The money received just dissappeared into the budget

My guess is its the practical difficulties of transporting the gold out that is the limiting factorarmoured cars, police escorts, staff/security, route planning, freight aircraft availability etcbrIf your're only shipping 1-2 tonnes per weeks, you just dont have the trained and vetted staff to handles 20 times that amount without a period of time to ramp up
