5 sec in the video I could tell the one on the left was plated Just look at the "Sun" pattern and sharp edges around the statue The "flaky", matt finish tells you its plated

I JUST NOW found out the coin flip was a thing when I bought some silver eagles and thought they were fake Turns out they were real after all, and never in 55 years of my life knew that American coins have a reverse print on each sidebrGreat video!

You can tell by the shine of each coin one on left has a dull shine compared to pure Silver The flipping of the coin is also a giveaway both sound totally different

For me that was way to detect right off the bat For those starting to invest in bullion or coins, it's imperative to become familiar with the properties of silver such as its look, feel, weight to size ratio, and also it's sound Unlike your average zinc/copper coins in circulation today Genuine Silver typically does not bounce and has a very short high-pitched "ping"-sound in comparison with any other metal Become familiar and you will be less likely to be deceived ✌️

I spotted it in seconds lol good looking fake but almost to good the letters are slim the flags star area background aka the blue on are flag was to detailed and the eagles face and feathers was not detailed enough also if you touch or deal with silver enough it makes a sound unlike any other alloy or metal

ALso tell tale real vs fake on the reverse on the real, the shield is like smushed into the feathers, and there is even one small bit of feather at the top of the shield that hangs over onto the front of the shield the fakes usually dont go to that level of detail, i have seen some that do, but mostly not Also in general on proofs, the real proofs have very high level of texture on the feathers literally thousands of small etchings the fake proofs dont have that one other detail is that the fakes have 5 lines on the shield and the real ones have 6 lines on the shield All markers usually the fake ones have a wide Y in Liberty with serifs, and the real ones have a narrow Y with no serifs Also the Real have a line on the U and the fakes dont but here it was not discernable on those markings between the 2 Definitle a good fake, except for the coin flip!!! which is the most obvious, but often overlooked!!

Another way of detecting a fake Silver Eagle which we can't see in the close up of the reverse is to check out the shield Just to the right of the center point on top of the shield, a breast feather from the eagle will be seen hanging just over the edge of the shield on a real coin Small details like that are things to look for on US Mint items

Thanks for sharing I like the magnet test Between the magnet test, the ping test (balancing one on a finger and tapping it with another one to test for an exact sound), and a weight scale, one could filter out a lot, but all??? The counterfeits are getting pretty good Fortunately, the silver store around here has some really solid testing equipment

The fake Silver Eagle would have been quicker to detect if each coin was flipped over left over right instead of top over bottom In numismatic terminology, coin die axis orientation determines how the obverse and reverse of a coin are aligned with each other If the obverse and reverse are each aligned right-side up when the coin is flipped over, this is called Medal Orientation such as found on British and Canadian coins If the obverse and reverse are aligned upside down from each other, this is called Coin Orientation such as found on US coins
