When I was much younger (in the early 1980s) I worked two full-time jobs at the same time; it was about 80-85 hours a week total Both jobs paid a bit over minimum wage Despite all the hours I worked, I wasn't swimming in money My co-workers were envious of the amount of money I made a week, as they were trying to get by on one job (35-40 hours a week) I used to listen to them talk about paying bills Several people had landlords that required them to pay their rent week by week, because they could not trust them to budget their money to make monthly payments Others, who did not have medical insurance, knew doctors who would let them pay charges for their medical care in installments instead of collecting all of it at once Some could even pay for prescriptions at pharmacies that way As payday loans were not prevalent at the time, most of them used their credit cards to get cash advances, which they had trouble paying back (banks and collection agencies were regularly calling our employers about overdue amounts) I can't imagine how much worse things are now

It’s not the amount that is hindering this individual’s from living but themselves Minimum wage will always be minimum wage Doesn’t matter if they raise it to $1000 or $10000 an hour, if you are making minimum wage you will always be living like this It is up to the individual to lift themselves up not society Besides, society will always do a worse job of looking after people than the individual themselves Look at government today All the tax’s collecting by politicians involuntarily to support social programs but nothing changing
