Thats a coin from military exchanges over seas at deployed military bases They do not let you have metal change for fear of locals using Them to make explosives Its also cheaper to print these than use metal coins They can be redeemed at a military exchange They never let me use them at any of the US bases i have been too Its apparently hit or miss state side Overseas they are common at some of the more populous bases atleast I hate aafes

I think the most annoying thing about this coin is that you can't criticize the design without people assuming the complaint stems from Liberty being portrayed as an African American This is the level of ridiculousness that America is coming to After allmost social justice warriors (read young kids who have no understanding of history or real life) don't even know that Americas most acclaimed design - the $20 Saint used an African American model for Libertyand is one of the mostif not the most beautiful coin the US mint has ever made Keep in mind these are the same logically-and-history-challenged folks who are claiming that women have never been on USA currency (false) or USA coins (very false - females have been on US coins nearly exclusively until 1909) and that we need to put females on the money now to fix this injusticesigh I am all for showing off the diversity of the USA on our coinage and currency, but wish these arguments were based on facts and history and not sensational nonsense
