As an autistic person that cannot hide their disgust like a normal person when I get a gift I don't like, I started a few years ago to make a very detailed wishlist for the holiday season (I'm a capricorn, so "holiday season" has both christmas and my birthday) with very specific things I'd like, at least 30 different easy to get items from local places that I know my family and friends can go to, and ranging prices from 1 to about 50 dollars, most of them are less than ten dollars tho Huge success, never gotten useless crap ever again and instead all the niche small items I love and will use a lot

This is why my go to gifts are an assortment of things like toothbrushes, tooth paste, generic deodorant, chapstick, thick socks, etc Most of it isn't gonna be someone's first choice as far as a brand goes (ex: I usually do an arm & hammer deodorant), but they work well as a backup for when you're out of the thing It sucks to wake up to weather in the negatives and realize you have no lip balm bc your face wants to crack from the air, but oh, what is this? Random chapstick? Hell yeah brbrIt definitely isn't the most exciting thing to receive day of, but when you need it, you'll be happy it's there
