Frozen Pennies
Saving money on groceries is easy if you know the tricks What is your favorite grocery shopping hack?
Comment from : Frozen Pennies

Except for frozen veggies and canned beans, shop the perimeter of the store The processed foods (and junk) are in the center aisles brIf you have bulk facilities (often cooperatives have them), get spices, flours, sugars, beans, coffee, in bulk It’s a great way to try a particular spice without having to spend $ on a prepackaged container
Comment from : ProgressiveHeart

Marse’ R
K-cups are bad for the environment too Buy a coffee pot, grinder & coffee beans It’s cheaper and the coffee is better The coffee in K-cups is stale Coffee goes stale within 3 weeks

I'm watching this 2 years after the video premiered, and inflation is running amok One thing I noticed at my local supermarket - they hide cheaper products in very sneaky ways Bagel brands like Thomas are in the bread aisle at around $500 a bag, but in the refrigerator section, on the top shelf above the butter and margarine where it's kind of dark, they keep a local brand selling for only $199 Same amount of bagels, same taste Sure, the bagels are hard because they've been refrigerated, but if you toast or microwave them for 30 seconds before eating, they become as soft as when they were baked Who would think to look for bagels in the refrigerated section ? Check out the dark corners of your store You might be surprised to find what they hide

Check every receipt everytime before you leave the store I find so many, many mistakes!

Thank you for this presentation Very good indeed Here are my suggestions:brbrBefore you go shopping, go into your larder, cupboards, fridge and freezerbrMake a shopping list and stick to itbrLearn what foods are seasonable and so the items are like to be better pricebrBatch cook and freeze portions for another mealbrLearn the art of using upbrIf you are single or have a small family, buy those whole joints, say, of brisket and cut them up into smaller joints to freezebrBuy whole chickens and joint them up, using the "back" of the chicken to make stock for soups, gravies, and casserolesbrSet yourself a budget and stick to it

Oh my gosh! I like these, except:brThe day before Thanksgiving is the busiest grocery shopping day of the year! In fact, I was a sales rep to grocery stores, and my company told me not to go into the stores that day I would never go into a store the day before a holiday That’s when all the procrastinators gobrbrAnd we can’t go more than a week without getting healthy vegetables for salads Shopping less than that would be a problem
Comment from : Judys Bakery and Test Kitchen

Comment from : Kendall Hoeft

Victoria Blanc
way to save money-- don't buy K cups make your coffee from ground coffee we also keep a list of all meals that we make that are hits with our family- separated into pastas/ soups etc So in a week we can just go through and choose 6 or seven that we want that week Also we use 10 oz water bottles and add 8 oz of water and 2 oz of 100 no sugar added juice Great way to get the kids to drink more water, they love it, and great way to change up your water and add Vitamin C Also really cut back on your meat consumption

Thank you so much Sara!! This is the best video I’ve come across on grocery shopping 🛒 ❤️❤️❤️ I just recently retired, and now I’m on a fixed budget, so I have to be careful on spending I’ve been doing the inventory of the pantry, refrigerator and freezer I know I’m going to start buying in bulk, and start shopping once a month, which is a great idea!! Thanks again 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️❤️❤️

Buying in bulk isn`t always the right thing to do You are spending more and keeping the inventory in storage Doesn`t make sense unless you are shopping for a large family

Laundry Faerie
You can also remodel your leftovers Roll them up in a tortilla and make a wrap Spoon them over hot toast Blitz a savory casserole in the food processor, add broth and make it into a soup Thicken up a savory soup with vegetables and cornstarch, pour it into a crust and make a pot pie If you have chili or something similar, bake some potatoes and top them with chili and cheese Bits of meat and vegetables can be spiced up and stuffed into dumplings Remodeling your leftovers gives them new life and makes them more appealing to eat than "not THAT again"
Comment from : Laundry Faerie

Astrid Hoffersen
What's the point of the "clicker thing?"

Dizzys Doings
I've noticed that often buying the bigger items is more expensive per pound or serving than the smaller size So, comparison shop brKnow your prices If you're shopping in more than one store, knowing how much something costs in each store will tell you whether or not it's a good dealbrForget the k cups Either use a reusable one or use a drip coffee maker It costs me less than a dime to make a cup of coffee in my small, drip coffee maker I've heard that grinding your own beans makes it even cheaper But, I can only drink decaf due to a medical reason, and they don't sell the beans around here, so don't know if it's true or not
Comment from : Dizzys Doings

Paulina Zakrzewska
Do not use ketchup at all It is not so healthy Skip it
Comment from : Paulina Zakrzewska

TheGoddessIAMcom
By growing a garden and planting fruit trees I really help save $ and by eating organically grown food which is really good for my health, I also save on medical expenses and illnesses caused by eating the SAD - Standard American Diet

Better Living on a Budget
Stay out of the stores - I absolutely need to do this My freezers and pantry are stuffed - no reason to go, but I still do My goal for December is to not go grocery shopping at all We are traveling to see family 12/21-30th, and I'll likely buy a few things to help round out the meals while we're there, but no shopping at home prior to the trip
Comment from : Better Living on a Budget

🌸Lotusblume🌸
Please don’t buy those k cups! They’re so bad for the environment! Just get a regular coffee machine and make great coffee! 😢
Comment from : 🌸Lotusblume🌸

Plz don't throw bottles you already bought plz use them untill can't be used to prevent large plastic dump it's more environmentally friendly

Savannah
I was at my grocery store this week before Thanksgiving and I found a beef chuck roast on sale for at least half off maybe 75 off the price and the package that I got was enough for probably three roast meals So I bought it and cut it up into portions and put it in my freezer because the Thanksgiving coming of course I wouldn't be eating it right away But it was a great price and I'm sure it was on sale because nobody was looking for a roast at this time of year
Comment from : Savannah

I don't get the only once a month shopping Fresh veggies don't last for that long Even bread doesn't last for 2 weeks before it gets green stains And salad only lasts for several days in the fridge How can you have fresh food when going to the Store so seldomn?

K-Cups are too expensive for me
Comment from : Solid State

Kenyon Bissett
Tip 22, lol Know the coupon policies of the stores in your area Example: Store A frequently offers a $10 off $75 purchase Store B accepts competitors coupons for $ off $$ Store coupons Usually store B has better deals when Store A offers a $ off coupon So I use the Store A coupon at store B brbrAdditional tip: don’t use it just to use it! The last time I used it I combined it with my senior discount at Store A because they had a month long sale on dry beans All were a $1 a lb, my senior discount and the $ off coupon took the beans to $083lb which is good for chickpeas (reg $150) and other beans in my area I did not buy pinto beans because I can get them for $075lb regularly
Comment from : Kenyon Bissett

Cristina Sumadchat
I don't need to make a list when going to the grocery With inflation, cost of goods have soared and the amount of money you need to fill a cart has doubled I just buy about 5-6 items which are on promo, the cart is full and all the money is gone
Comment from : Cristina Sumadchat

Ginny Berg
I didd do not know that about eggs How do we freeze potatoes when I did it they turned brown
Comment from : Ginny Berg

Charlene Brissette
As I am writing this in late 2022, it is a very good idea to stock up on everything you use, I have about a years worth of stuff put away
Comment from : Charlene Brissette

Charlene Brissette
Something that saves a lot of money is to realize that those dates are mostly best by dates NOT expiry dates Dry foods and canned foods last way longer than the dates say
Comment from : Charlene Brissette

Krys Galetin
A healthier and much cheaper option for you and the environment is to buy coffee beans and grind your own You will drink less because the coffee is more flavourful and without any plastic residue from those K-cups

True to an extent, you should rotate your food, but in these uncertain times you should always have a lot more than just a week’s worth of food in your pantry
Comment from : Dorris Behr

I'm giving a thumbs up because your tips are exactly how I have lived and shopped over the last 35 years All these tips work and they don't take a lot of work, just dedication to saving your own money and not allowing the shops to relieve you of it all!!

When I buy mince I cook it all with onion and garlic, drain off any fat I divide in 2 batches One half I make a passata tomato sauce base I use to make bolonaise, lasagne etc, I reserve half a cup and freeze and use this sauce as a base for pizza or filling for sandwiches in sandwich maker OR to add to minestrone The other divided batch I add mixed vegetables, beef stock cubes and thicken, I make savoury mince, curried mince, shepards pie or meat pie I reserve half cup from this batch and freeze and use as a filling with a slice of cheese for toasted sandwiches in a sandwich maker

I buy a lot of things in bulk like meats rice pasta potatoes onions bread and things I can freeze Plus I can most of my food I dehydrate a lot of my food, a meal prep for the week and I make things homemade I only grocery shop once a month which saves me money , but I look at my pantry first to see what I really need All these all these items save me money I just wanted to add that each department in a grocery store has marked down items which may help some of your viewers to cut down on grocery cost

Great advice as usual We are renting a small studio in Austria and I'm so sad I can't buy in bulk anymore because of my tiny camper size fridge/freezer Me and my boyfriend literally have to take turns buying our favourite frozen foods because 2 items don't fit the damn freezer lol Seeing your pantry made me a bit jealous
Comment from : Suzana

SavorySaver
So many great tips but there I had a couple favorites Shopping from your pantry is HUGE! It prevents wasting food makes you aware of what you use for ingredients and what doesn't go as fast Also, the discount produce before it heads to the dark side My grocery store will mark down citrus from time to time Those limes with the brown spots are perfect for juicing and freezing in ice cube trays Thaw a few cubes and you have fresh lime juice for margaritas! Thank you for so many great shopping tricks!
