yeah, pretty much comfirmed what i knew already, if our Assaba would of chosen football(soccer) instead of tennis and moved to europe he would of had a living at the same level, as usual we only see the visible high top of the ice berg and forget the great majority has to grind on the bottom, certainly if they cant count on the help of sponsors like rich relatives or parrents, you really have to love it

Becoming a pro tennis player is practically impossible and so many preconditions need to be met You need to be extremely talented You need certain physical attributes You need a rich family supporting you, cuz you won't be making any money yourself But the real issue is, that you don't earn any ranking points, unless you are already an established player And without the ranking points, you won't really make it into the bigger tournaments And without making it into the big tournaments, you won't get to practice against the top tier players And if you do finally meet a top tier player, you will get destroyed because they have experience and you don't It's a viscous circle 99999 of all players are perpetually stuck facing players who are in the same viscous circle

Well, why would you want to be lower ranked? If you know that you it is hard to reach the top based on your skill set, why fool yourself and waste time and money just because you want to be the next Federer or Nadal or Djokovic when you know the chances are you won't make it? Just curious what the value of the ATP/ WTA Pension would be? From what I've read ages ago players who end the season in the top 160 (in Singles) and top 20 (in doubles) qualify for a years ATP/WTA Pension contribution with I think 5 years being amount needed to get the full pension after retirement with it being reduced for each year short of the 5 requiredbrbrAlso the prize money even in the qualifying rounds of the Grand Slams in substantial now I believe Q3 in Wimbledon pays about £18k

I have a few people I know that were on the Satellite circuit And the main complaint was MONEY!! Travel, housing, food, etc And these were good college players After one year on tour, their games were even better Because they were playing for their lives And they came home extremely JADED about the sport of Tennis

Tennis is one of the most difficult sport to make money, in these ITF tournaments you have almost no difference between the 300 and 1000 ranking, as it is extremely challenging to get ATP points, lots of people don't realize how harsh it is to stay in the top 100 and to have direct access to ATP 250 tournaments

Sport is an entertainment industry People are simply not entertained by 200 and 300 ranked players the same way they are by players in the 50 Sponsors won't put up the money and TV deals aren't going to be made if no one is going to watch it Tennis suffers the same way swimming suffers Unless it is a major event people just aren't interested in watching it outside of the die hard fans
