Both times "In God We Trust" was added to our money were for political reasons The Civil War and the Red Scare It's not the media that's the problem, it's an AI generated definition AI is in its infancy, and not very smart yet If you had ants in your house and asked AI for a way to get rid of them, AI might tell you to burn the house down

It was not intentional by the Mint but WAS intentional by a Mint police officer who was arrested in 2012 for stealing millions of dollars worth of presidential dollars before the edge lettering could be applied He was sentenced to 36 months in prison

'In God We Trust' did not appear on US coinage until the introduction of the two cent coin in 1864 In fact, the motto, 'In God We Trust' was not legislated to be the US motto until 1956, so several coin designs after 1864 did not include that phrase Personally, I feel that the phrase violates my rights undet the First Amendment to the US Constitution regarding religion because, 1) The US was never founded with a national religion, and, 2) Until recently, there has strict a separation between Church and State

Godless dollars are not illegal because it was not an intentional act at the time they were made Error coins are such and the mint accepts them as part of the Murphy's law process Also older coins did not have the motto simply because the government lived by the 1st amendment clause that government shall not have any respect for religion or any belief Their faith in coins consisted of confidence in the value of precious metals Neither is the case today for reasons why the motto is left off Have a nice day Daniel

"In God We Trust" is a violation of the First Amendment establishment clause - "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion " It's right there in the text, the fact that it's "traditional" doesn't change this, the fact that the Supreme Court abrogated its responsibility when a complaint was brought doesn't change this (although I will grant that the premise of the case in question was poorly conceived) The "motto" is still a violation AND it cheapens the concept

Thanks Daniel In my mind, the missing lettering was nothing more than a mint error They didn't mint the entire series with out In God We Trust Sensationalizing and using inappropriate words to describe the news is a way for them to get clicks and stir things up for feedback I too believe Jesus died for our sins I just wished if we are going to put In God We Trust on our coins, that we be a better nation following those words
