My father is a bilingual, he speaks Russian and Romanian I suggested him to study English 3 months ago, and I was surprised when he came to me stating that his swimming skills improved due to his English studies So how did he improve? 3 months ago he couldn't swim completely underwater an entire swimming pool (25meters), and after these 3 months he reached his goal of swimming completely underwater the entire pool, and he is 63 years oldso for me the benefits are obvious Comment from : @Against_All_Odds_Stories |

Although I am a geologist for decades, the most useful and interesting subject I have ever studied was ‘Latin’ starting at the age of 13 Mandatory in our Montreal school I kept studying it through it the school years when we moved to Europe ( once through correspondence) and have pursued it on and off over the decades For every 00 kids ‘forced’ to take piano lessons, only a couple learn to love it It’s the same with Latin I’m privileged to be one of the few Thank you M Lemaire , my grade 8 brLatin teacher, for your inspiring Latin lessons over a half century ago Comment from : @tomaaron6187 |

Hello Steve and friends, I'd like anyone's thoughts on language guilt, letting go of languages and being okay with it - I know people like yourself Steve and maybe others really love having so many languages you actively study at the same time Me, I struggle because I just can't let go of a language without the guilt and it's really frustrating I feel obligation to keep every language i've ever studied in the past how could i remedy this? I'd really like to know people's thoughts Comment from : @sheeliekittie9298 |

"In Alzheimer’s disease, as neurons are injured and die throughout the brain, connections between networks of neurons may break down, and many brain regions begin to shrink By the final stages of Alzheimer’s, this process—called brain atrophy—is widespread, causing significant loss of brain volume" - National Institute on Aging brbrI don't like Joe Rogan either, but a lot of what you've said in regards to criticising him is simply not true It seems like you dislike this person more because of their political views, and you are criticising them under a sort of veneer/guise of language education brbrPS: I really dislike Joe Rogan, but I also dislike thinly veiled attacks on people under the guise of education / informing people It's so disingenuous and is the type of thing that drives many to people like Joe Rogan Comment from : @elsalfo |
I hope to learn English and leave fascist z Putin's Russia Comment from : @ДанилаРязанцев-ю3н |

I cannot tell how big source of inspiration you are Steve Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us I would only maybe add one more point and that is the following: most of the people appreciate if you speak "their language" In a way you are giving credits to those persons by putting the efforts to acquire their language 😊 Comment from : @polyglotsjourney |

For the opportunities languages bring to you, English allowed me to go on a two semester Erasmus in Ireland I met two people that are now close to mebr The thing is that they are Hungarians and so for the fun of it I decided to move to Hungary for maybe a couple yearsbrI now live with my male friend and my female friend trapped me here by becoming my girlfriend 🤣brbrI was a nerdy boy who wanted to grow in this world and normal things were frightening to me, this experience in Ireland changed me, I''m much more confident, I have a job, a very good friend and a lovely girlfriendbrbrAll of that is because of language learning, without English this would not have happenedbr Now I'm learning Hungarian and I'm sure it will bring me other fantastic opportunities Comment from : @Perrirodan1 |

I've always been interested in languages I've always loved the sound of Spanish, but I've forgotten most is what I learned in school Hopefully someday I can learn it fluently I'm also working on improving my German because of my heritage, and I hope I can learn my family's language too My first real self-study language, though, is Finnish I started learning it 7 years ago because of music (one of my absolute favourite bands is Finnish), and it has brought me so many wonderful friends and experiences For that, Finnish will always be special to me Comment from : @corinna007 |
Thank you for sharing this video, Steve İt is so useful for me Comment from : @deutschmitpurple2918 |

Video Idea Suggestion:
br
brI have been studying German diligently over the last 3 months or so, and i completely digested the 60 mini-stories, but right now i feel kinda lost, i don't know what content to work on, I enjoyed the mini-stories because I felt I was hand-walked through, in other words I was well guided, I had a finish line in mind which was the 60th mini-story, I knew what to do, but now I feel lost What would you recommend for someone who has completed the 60 mini-stories and is on the cutting edge of the B1 level, I think it's worth a video : "What to do after finishing all the 60 mini-stories"br
brAnother Video Idea : Since I have been studying Finnish over the last 6 years inconsistently, I have been struggling to find good and guided content to work on, so a good video idea would be "How To Study For Rare Languages When You Don't Have Good Resources", because that's been my biggest struggle in Finnish, but I made my way through and right now I can confidently say that I'm at the B2 level (after 6 years of struggle), by the way I started learning Finnish right around the time u started learning Greek Comment from : @jackkrauser1763 |
My main motive is that i see learning languages as part of a more wholistic approach to the acquisition of knowledge, as not every work of literature, history, philosophy, science, etc will be translated to English and while nothing is “untranslatable” there are interesting ways that languages differ in the way they express and even conceptualize various phenomena and thoughts which might be difficult to translate in both an efficient and natural-sounding way brbrbrI do not relate to the social aspect, though; I am an asocial language enthusiast Comment from : @adriantepesut |
But i would like to know which companies un I can apply for a job for example un US!! Comment from : @Eltuani28 |
Thank youGreat motivation to continue and persevere in leaning languages Comment from : @juliabelle796 |
For some reason this video wasn't available/shown on your profile yet it says it was published 4 days ago brI feel pity for Joe Rogan and I'll laugh at his face when French become the international language (as it's expected to replace English) brI must say Steve, so many people and also Luca Lampariello have had a deeper connection with their couples, their better half, soul mate, etc by speaking each other's language Don't know your take on this topic though I did hear from you your wife is native to Cantonese and Costa Rican Spanish (cool you have a slight connection to my culture) both languages you speak You've also shared with us you've been married for a long time which shows language learning goes beyond it's difficulties Comment from : @marcoarrieta4983 |
