Euronet ATMs are all over Cyprus Limassol,they charge ridiculous fees for withdrawing money,you will find only a few cyprus banks near the city, but you can find EURONET ATM in every corner

Michael J Brown is CEO of Euronet and hes American The company is based in Kansas Europe is being scammed by an American But it seems the company is going into what they are calling a "quiet period" More legislation for money for nothing scams like theirs and contactless is having a big impact on their business model Lets hope they clear off altogether

Great video about a largely unknown racket Great jobbrbrOn another note, ATM fees may be the hardest to avoid, butif any card you use Credit or debit, charges a Foreign Conversion Fee, you haven't done your due diligence My bank Debit card charges no Foreign Conversion Fees, but it allows for ATM fees I happily ditched that card in favor of a Charles Schwab card that charges nothing and even reimburses ATM fees You should only be using a card that allows the withdrawal or US or local currency at the daily exchange rate with NO fees The end

When I arrived in Prague I waited until I was outside the baggage claim to use a Moneta Bank ATM to withdraw 10k ck They charged a 235k service charge While I declined the conversion, my bank still charged me a 1 foreign transaction fee but they did refund the 235k fee After six days of food, train tickets, guide gratuities and souvenirs, I still had 4,500k left I used the currency exchange at the ticket windows of the main train station to convert that to US dollars The only problem with Americans using a credit card in Prague is that many cards charge a foreign transaction fee I did have one card from Capital One that did not charge a fee and I used that

Tip for Mexico! Try to get money only at inbursa bank ATMs in Mexico They only charge 21 pesos and of course decline conversiondon’t use scotia bank or bbva ! It’s like 4-12$ just for the transaction

I trapped this scam this summer at Burgas/Bulgaria, it was our last day and we just head back to Turkey, before we go, we go to a nice view restaurant to eat sth before going on the road, unfortunately, i have only euros left behind me and the restaurant doesn’t accept cards, luckily(?) there is a Euronet atm literally half inside of restaurant, like near the entrance door, and that atm charge me literally 20 more than normal rate

Another great way to avoid risks is locate the big EU banks in Prague, the non Czech ones, like BNP, Barclays, Deutsche, etc… And either use their atms or walk into the bank with your passport, ask about pulling money out, and confirm they will not apply their own fx rate, and conform what fees they will charge on their end I’m in the US right now, went into a Wells Fargo Bank here, with my passport, did exactly that, and only had a minimal fee And I knew exactly what I was charged before hand

Euronet are the worst ATM machines and the most excessive charges and exchange rates I always find that a charge card like Wise or Revolut are best as they do the conversion at the lowest rate close to the mid bank rate
