Tribloon it's a nice simple routine, requires practise of course but it's a clean routine, looks so magical and Eric is so good at explaining, Craig petty adds routines too Comment from : @uknavynige |
I was advised not to buy a lot of gaff coins Immediately but to practise with normal coins 1st, I wish I'd listened to them, I spent over £500 on gaffed coin sets and the routines and it's quite overwhelming, though I would definitely recommend the alakazam elite coin sets from Craig petty Comment from : @uknavynige |
I know this is an old video however the expert card magic by David Lee roth comes as a download now and you get dollars and half dollars with it too Comment from : @uknavynige |

I definitely recommend David Roth’s first series Also Eric Jones “Metal” series 1-3 Both those series are amazing (And David Roth’s foundations are so good for all other coin magic in my opinion Can’t recommend his book “Expert Coin Magic” but his videos make the book come to life) Comment from : @Genethagenius |

For choosing coins it's tough br Growing up in Canada in the 80s it was hard to find coins Canadian Silver dollars were best Now I use Twoonies ( $2 coins ), they are a bit small but have you ever tried to borrow a Kennedy I/2 dollar from a spectator ? Comment from : @seanfaherty |
The best way Pipo Villanueva Comment from : @carlosenriquehernandezlope8593 |
I started with Bobos myself, but if you're not a book person there are some videos out there that are great for learning For beginners, Eric Jones first Metal DVD is a great place to start David Roth's Expert Coin Magic Made Easy volume 1 is also a great place for Coin magic beginners Comment from : @armstrongmagic9253 |
I broke my hand at the Del Mar fair years ago the troupe refused to rehearse and dropped me on the mount of my giraffe That ended about three or four years of my serious practice and broke my wrist a few years later Both never were set so I have pretty limited mobility Gaffs are great but wish I hadn’t relied so heavy on gimmicks and learned to get over the trauma and make the sleights work When there’s a master purest on the pitch, people take note and drop them likewise Cellini knew the advantages of traveling light, wish I didbrSmilesotheylikeyou Comment from : @thestreet9537 |
Would definitely recommend Craig petty's Alakazam coin magic Day 1 & Day 2brbrHe goes over the basic from a total beginner sleights and basic vanishesbrbrDo check it Comment from : @bond_villain |
Well this is refreshing I seem to have stumbled upon grown ups, it's like the old days when the person you were talking to was within reach I was brought here by accident so probably won't be back but just wanted to say thanks, Its a lovely little oasis you have here in the comments Comment from : @NN-Nathan |

For video, The Metal series is the New New Expert Coin Magic Eric Jones's teaching is clear and concise and what you get is the modern state of play in the realm of coin magic Another hearty recommendation for the work of brother Danny Goldsmith That kid is brilliant Most of his commercial products are intermediate to advanced but his site also offers access to some good clear beginner teaching Books Expert Coin Magic, Kaufman's if you can spare a kidney, Rubinstein's new book Coin Magic (this last also doubling as a self defense weapon/weight lifting implement) I think that Bobo's at this point is more of a reference book A lot of stuff in there has just been outmoded by better methods available in the books I referenced No disrespect to Maestro Bobo Also check out Jeff Copeland's site for teaching and props His shells are excellent (they are for a very nice round that he also sells) and his coin boxes are the business Excellent video as always Comment from : @christopherstorz6184 |
I regularly carry Double deception and Split focus These coins aren't cheap but they make me look like a weapon I used them yesterday roving for 1600 kids and they were amazed Comment from : @bradrobbery788 |
For someone starting out with coin gaffs, I would recommend Sucker Punch by Mark Southworth It runs about $40 but it comes with a whole set of Poker Chips that are basic coin gaffs you would spend hundreds of dollars on and the video is taught by Eric Jones Yes the Poker chips are kind of cheap but they are perfect for practice and if you get serious, you will have an idea which gaffs you will want to spend your money on Comment from : @markruiz7333 |
I do basically 0 coin magic BUT I have a super triple coin by Johnny wong and it's usually my go to if someone wants to see just 1 trick It's fast, self contained, modular, and instant resets I know I can't handle difficult sleights and passes but this allows me to feel like I can If you don't do coins but want to add a little variety that's my recommendation! Comment from : @TheSeanChannel |
Mark Wilson's Book is the place to start For gaffed coins you gotta include Copper, Silver, Brass (CSB) coins or 2 Copper, 1 Silver coins Comment from : @supremekarate1 |
Thank you for this review It will be a big help Comment from : @cecillewis968 |
Love Mark Wilson's book, get it Comment from : @jerryRp90x |
Eric Jones has an amaizing coin magic DVD set It's got all the classic tricks as well as some of his really innovative moves and skills It's a collection of DVDs that gradually get more difficult I loved it Kainoa has some really great tricks too, but definitely not for beginners But he really takes coin magic to another level! Comment from : @jongalloway4104 |
Awesome video with great advice and recommendations! Some of my go to coin tricks (gafs) that I always have on me are FIT by paul carnazzo, hole 30 by ted bogusta, and a triple split coin (unbranded) Blackbird by jeff copeland is a sneaky way of producing a coin as well Thanks for another great video as they are always appreciated! Comment from : @mitchzeal1775 |
Now U see it Now U Don't books by Bill Tarr are also great to learn Coin Magic because of its detailed illustrationsbrBTW Great advice and tips! Comment from : @TheMagicTaco |
Maybe It is not begginer, but I would ad raven for coins magic Comment from : @Migmir1313 |
Benjamin Earl has "Deep Coin Work" in his deep seminars It's 6 hours and gives a great overview and some of his most famous coin effects, many of which are pretty easy If you wait for a sale it's an especially good deal This is more for someone who already knows cards and wants to get into coins though Comment from : @mathmusicstructure |
David Stone has a two volume coin magic DVD that is good too In the beginning there were coins from penguin is how I started in coin magic Comment from : @JohnGregRivera |

Steve Faulkner just updated his online course that has an entire coin course taking you from basic to pro I highly recommend his online course it is a great value if not THE greatest value in magic teaching Comment from : @markkennedy5955 |
Copper Silver Brass is beautiful, convinces your spectators that you are a real wizard For CSB, I recommend getting a set in half dollar size as dollar size coins are not too common nowadays around the world and are generally easier to work with 👍👍 Comment from : @bard2227 |
I've recently discovered Danny Goldsmith His teaching is next level Comment from : @jjtheok6190 |
Awesome jobI would also suggest Michael Vincent's Coins thru table from one of his sets Comment from : @thedude9044 |

GREAT REVIEW! Definitely a saver! I met Roth about 35 years ago RIP Have his book, Bobo's and Coin Magic I'll take a look at the other two Been watching you every day for several years now Thanks for putting in the workbrbrBy the way Double Deception and Escapist Coins are my favorite gaffed/gimmicked coin tricks Comment from : @randy2643 |
I started with Bobo’s and I don’t disagree that it may not be the best for an absolute beginner Roth’s Expert Coin Magic is a great resource brbrMark Wilson’s is a great resource in general So much money magic, but so much every other type too brbrI’d also recommend Eric Jones Metal 1 for an absolute beginner That is possibly my #1 recommendation I started with that right after Bobo’s and still love showing the coins across and 3fly from that download Comment from : @WalterOlsss |
I only practice matrix and imagination coins by Garrett Thomas Comment from : @liaonardo_me |
I’m brand new into coin magic (I know the very basics), and I purchased charming Chinese challenge and it definitely was a great introductory as well and was a great way for me to dip my toes into it all Thanks for the great advice and recommendations David! Comment from : @anthonyknabb166 |
This was a Great segment! Very well put together, this is a very valuable starter video, thanks for this one!👍 Comment from : @bradw5451 |
In the beginning there were coins dvd Jay Noblezada and penguin magic Comment from : @ChrisEdwardsMagic |
Bobo was how I started but it was completely unintentional I was at my very first Magic Convention and there was an auction, I put in a bid on a box of books and I won It had an old hard cover of Bobo and Close up Card Magic by the one and only Harry Lorayne (which I later got him to sign when I ran into him at Tannens) I was still very much a beginner and the HL book at the time was far beyond my skill set I still have and cherish both I think another great book on sleights for beginners is Now you See it, Now you dont by Bill Tarr Sponge Balls are also a great intro to coin magic A great way to practice with slightly cheaper gaffs is Sucker Punch by Mark Southworth, it has a few of the same gaffs and some great effects Some great recommendations sin this video, thanks as always! Comment from : @DJRosen |
Steve Faulkner has just added a beginners coin magic section to his online magic course Join up and you get all the card stuff as well Comment from : @markthomas1639 |
