I’m currently reading books from Bertrand Russell I like that guy so I’m very intrigued by whatever he’s got to say Finding contents that interest you is the most helpful tip that I recommend for learning a language It’s so much easier to find top-notch material in English than other languages

I remember trying to learn Farsi, over 40 yrs ago, using books, learning grammarnothing seemed to help, but when I was immersed in the culture & actually lived in Iran a couple of years, did I actually learn the languagetoday I can proudly say I speak quite fluentlybut I must catch up on my German, since 1/2 my heritage is Austriangerman speaking I feel I have nearly mastered French, since I live in Quebec & it is the official language of the province I so appreciate your input on languageI heard you today on CJAD Radio in Montreal & was fascinated by your knowledge & love of languages take care

The LingQ app is a joke I have just translated a sentence from Spanish to English : ''El jueves veía la tele'' and LingQ translation is : ''Thursday saw the TV'' That's not only one app error There are loads! Is this the way I should learn a language Steve?

In terms of interesting standard Arabic content for your level Steve, check out the archive for Al-Hilal! It was an Egyptian Journal/Magazine that sometimes published short stories stretches all the way back to the 50's Check out Mada Masr, Al-Manassa, Al-Jumhuriya, Kalamon All online news publications with fascinating content There is also a magazine with all of its articles online called Cairobserver, about Cairean architecture and it was published in the years directly after the arab spring so there is some good stuff in there
