EA have done this method called "rubber banding" Basically the farther you are from the AI, the quicker they or you catch up EA have done this for many years now

nice demonstration, you're right, there is catch up always in career, but you can turn that off quick race mode Actually I guess opponent car AI is far worse than player's abilities, I always beat it in QR without catchup by at least 10sec so it would be rather boring without it in career

Skillful driving! Impressive These games are new to me as of 2 years ago, and all I have is Gamecube I have made it through Underground 2 twice, and it is my favorite of the 5 games playable on GC Nice to finally see the words on the overhead bridge in Pigeon Park, LOL awesome to read the road signs Best game ever

There is something like a catch up system in the game The AI slows down a lot when they gain a lot of lead to allow you to have a chance of winning the game in case you fail horribly This "feature" was also implemented in Nfs Underground(the first one), while later on you had an option to disable it on Most wanted and later games

nice video man, annoys the hell outa me too! even better example, try this: Outer Ring, 3 opponents, difficulty easy, 10 laps, catch up > on (!) - by the time you're a lap ahead of them they'll get ridiculous grip & speed and stuff like avg speed of 150 with a top speed of 140, just check the statistics after the race :D
